Job Title:Junior HR Business Partner, TNL

Overview of Job:
To be part of the Business facing HR teams delivering generalist HR expertise for primarily The Sunday Times and The Times when needed. Responsibilities will vary according to the business area, ranging from enabling organisational development, change management, talent management, performance management, employee communications, reward and employee relations. Work will involve projects which enable the business functions through a period of significant change.
Key Tasks / Result Areas
1. Working with the HRBP to support the delivery of people strategy, projects and changing needs of the business
2. Build effective partnerships with key stakeholders to enable the delivery of the business strategy.
3. Employee Relations – responsible for assisting and managing ER issues by providing advice and training to managers, ensuring legislation is followed and liaising with legal advisors where necessary.
4. Respond quickly and efficiently by preparing for different situations, and provide effective solutions to manager needs.
5. Performance Management – proactively drive the roll out of performance management, including developing appropriate templates and processes, providing training, coaching and support to Department Heads and ensuring standards are achieved across all functions.
6. Respond quickly and efficiently by preparing for different situations, and provide effective solutions to manager needs.
7. Remuneration - facilitate submissions through the memo process. Support the delivery of the annual salary and bonus review processes.
8. Policy – provide advice to line managers in implementing all people policies by weighing up risks with them.
9. Structures – lead and implement restructuring projects. This includes the scoping, preparation and full consultation process.
10. Provide administrative support to the HR Business Partner and provide assistance in co-ordinating a range of ad hoc projects.
Key Technical Skills and Experience Required:
1. Generalist HR experience including employee relations, employment law, performance management, coaching, and change management
2. Experience of working in a challenging environment, probably with deadline driven and strong minded business teams
3. Good Project Management skills
4. Good knowledge of the basics of employment law as applying to HR generalist function
5. Experience of working in a unionised environment desirable
6. Interest in news and current affairs
