Position Summary
The Manager of Marketing / Social Media will have a cross-functional focus. This position will be responsible for working with a larger marketing team to develop a long-term social and digital marketing acquisition strategy to keep The Weather Channel & Local Now top-of-mind with viewers utilizing social media as well as other consumer digital touchpoints. The successful candidate will have a strong social and digital background and will become a thought leader within the organization to create and execute compelling campaigns that will engage viewers in a 2-way dialogue with the network and drive consumption of our newest OTT offering Local Now.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Successfully promote The Weather Channel's position as the go-to weather authority - drive viewership of severe weather coverage and adoption of new OTT offering.
• Create, promote and maintain social presence for current and upcoming priorities
• Be the thought leader of social within the organization and be a change agent for television division
• Develop best practices and create social guidelines for talent and content teams. Provide insights to our content and television teams that allow them to create better content that will thrive on social
• Aggregate and analyze social media and digital metrics to make recommendations on how to enhance The Weather Channel’s social and digital initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to amplify The Weather Channel’s message across various digital platforms and execute digital campaigns
Education, Experience, Certification Requirements
• 5 years of overall work experience ideally in a media company with an extensive TV, digital, mobile, and social presence to include 2-3 years of social expertise driving referral traffic, community engagement and/or tune-in
• Strong general management skills and a history of managing teams
• BA/BS degree in marketing, business or a related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Desire to achieve, flexibility and willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done in a 24x7 environment
• Must be a team player with a high level of accountability
• Ability to work proactively and anticipate issues and develop/improve strategy
• A strong work ethic and highly motivated
• Champion of change, demonstrating a consistent, positive can-do attitude
• Exhibit an understanding of how to be effective on various social and digital platforms
• Demonstrated communication skills and ability to react quickly and positively under a wide variety of sensitive business issues
• Proven ability to model leadership competencies
• Ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully

Hours
