Rapid Response/Breaking News Reporter
Daily Herald Media, a part of USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin, seeks a “rapid response” reporter to join our award-winning team of journalists in Wausau, Wis. This reporter will keep our readers informed and engaged through desktop, mobile and tablet sites, a daily print newspaper and social media.
The right candidate will be assertive, fast, possess strong news judgment and excellent writing skills, and have demonstrated abilities as a photojournalist and videographer.
The rapid response reporter will be the go-to journalist for news and information that needs to be shared quickly across digital platforms, including desktop, mobile and social. Sources include police and court records, press releases, scanner traffic, social media posts, reader and staff news tips, other media reports, etc. The reporter will be an expert at providing accurate, cleanly written copy rapidly.
This reporter will be the primary on-scene reporter at breaking news events, posting updates, photos and videos for our desktop and mobile audiences while sharing the news through social media.
Preferred candidates will have one to two years’ experience in daily journalism, embrace the digital focus of our publication, a four-year college degree and the ability to work independently on deadline. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, proof of insurance and own transportation.
