Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work with distinguished Penguin titles? We may have the perfect job for you! Penguin Random House is seeking a Production Assistant to support the Director of Production with all responsibilities related to book production for Penguin and Penguin Classic reprints. This fast-paced position works with a variety of internal departments, including Editorial, Managing Editorial, and Art and Design. Providing administrative support for the Production department, the Assistant plays a crucial role in the team that is responsible for overseeing the creation of a physical bound book.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Handling estimating and purchasing for all facets of book manufacturing for assigned titles.
2. Maintaining Excel status reports and working with internal departments and vendors to keep production on schedule.
3. Updating all title information and specifications in SAP, performing data maintenance, checking all printed covers for proper price, maintaining the department library, and confirming and approving invoices.
4. Routing and tracking materials, including cover and jacket proofs, interior text proofs, and sample layouts, to internal departments and outside vendors.
5. Collecting department packages, wrapping packages, and preparing UPS and messenger pick-ups.
6. Attending and participating in biweekly reprint meetings.

• 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
• Genuine interest in book production and book publishing
• Strong organizational, scheduling, and time management skills
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
• Strong ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline driven environment
• Ability to push or pull up to 20 lbs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Familiarity with SAP a plus
