As we look to the future, the Open and Alternative Marketing team will take Airbnb’s brand promise of universal acceptance and belonging into fertile new creative territories that expand our audience and expound upon our mission, building cultural currency and influencing top-of-funnel consideration.
The Senior Open Marketing Manager will report to the Global Open and Alternative Marketing Lead and be based in San Francisco. S/he will be responsible for managing all marketing, branding, and partnerships for Airbnb Open, a global initiative for the company (currently a global festival; opportunity to expand to a sub-brand). Success in this role is defined by the individual’s ability to increase awareness of Airbnb Open globally, consideration of Airbnb within Open markets, uptick in community satisfaction and engagement and attendance at our global festival.
Responsibilities:
• Build the brand look/feel, narrative and goals for Airbnb Open
• Create marketing plan for Airbnb Open events and festivals, with specific targets, promotional plans, budgeting parameters and cross-departmental collaboration / integration. Implement plan with outside / external partners.
• Collaborate and build the PR narrative for Airbnb Open with big ideas, talent and a unique ability to discern media-friendly programming and events
• Generate revenue for Airbnb Open via ticket sales and sponsorship / partnership deals (from conceptual ideas to execution with agency partner)
• Drive talent, PR, marketing and content strategy for Open and implements plan cross functionally and with external partners
• Build the strategy for Hub (digital site for AO), including ticket sales mechanism, cross-functional support, and optimizing for traffic, ease of use and community engagement
• Support the Alternative Marketing team in content strategy, merchandise development as needed
• Facilitate successful collaboration with multiple internal departments including Comms, PR, Social Media, Legal, Business Development and Host Communications
• Assist the Global Lead with prioritization for team and best use of resources across the Open sub-team
• Track and communicate team progress in weekly meetings; drives presentations / check-ins with company leadership in partnership with the Global Lead
Qualifications:
• Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and environments with a diverse group of people
• Sales-minded with proven ability to close deals (experience in sponsorship, partnership, business development all a plus)
• Self-starter with entrepreneurial qualities; advances projects and manages agencies and teams with minimal day-to-day oversight
• Ability and desire to travel; project will require extensive global travel during lead up to and actual festival
• Past experience in event management / marketing
• 12+ years of experience plus relevant education. Managerial experience a plus.
