Vice President, Physical Production - Animation
This position is responsible for the supervision of all Production, Graphics and Post Production facilities and technical staff at Sony Pictures Animation. This position will serve as the primary liaison between producers, production management and multiple operations groups to ensure efficient and effective production.
This position oversees all aspects of production and post-production operations. Monitors and directs all production and post-activity from prep through wrap, ensuring staff maintains project schedules, budgets and creative expectations. Develops and documents workflows, facility standards and production strategies.
Responsibilities
• Conceive production schedules/plans/budgets on alternative platform projects
• Collaborate with Creative Development group to originate production plans for alternative platform projects
• Oversee special project productions (shorts or other blu-ray bonus material)
• Develop strategic staffing plans in conjunction with SPA and SPI Producers
• Create/Maintain Pre-Production Schedule (weekly) for all SPA Departments:
◦ Visual Development
◦ Story
• Work with EVP’s direct Reports on current issues, including reporting structures, data organization, and standard operating procedures
◦ Head of Editorial
◦ Head of Visual Development
◦ Production and Associate Production Managers
• Work with EVP to develop SPA expansion plan (1-3-5 year business plan)
• Expedite changes in production schedules
• Collaborate with Recruitment to ensure Production needs are met
• Responsible for hiring, training and maintaining Production staff
• Ensure Production staffing is adequate and on budget
• Provide insight for MRP in capital and overhead expenses
• Create and implement policy and procedures for SPA Productions
• Work with SPI software development team on any SPA tools in development
• Coordinate SPA technical support with SPI systems development
Qualifications/Requirements
• Minimum of 10+ years experience budgeting, scheduling and maintaining visual effects/animated projects.
• Prior set experience and background of working directly with creative teams and film directors in Animated productions
• Experience with outsourcing, including identifying vendor studios
• Prefer experience managing a Studio, including fiscal planning, facilities management, business affairs, HR, contracts, etc.
• Strong working knowledge of Google Docs and production software
• Must be able to multitask and work effectively under changing priorities and daily time constraints
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Film or Business required
