Responsibilities
Summary
The Home Entertainment Business Intelligence Manager leads the partnership with the business teams on the delivery of initiatives and programs that enhance their reporting and analytics capabilities. This position combines knowledge of the Home Entertainment industry with expertise in a wide range of BI and data warehousing technologies, understanding of best practices for creating and maintaining operational process, as well as managerial responsibilities. This position will engage with the business and technical teams located in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain relationships with Home Entertainment business teams in order to understand current business processes and future reporting and analytics needs
Gathers high-level business requirements and defines scope for business intelligence project by conducting meetings and interviews, and facilitating large cross-functional sessions with business and IT partners
Assist in defining and implementing key metrics and performance indicators across multiple functional areas of the Home Entertainment business
Combine knowledge of multiple technology areas with knowledge of the Home Entertainment business functions to define a technical roadmap and implementation plan for advancing their analytics capabilities
Maintains up-to-date awareness of business intelligence and data discovery technologies within the industry and across NBCU
Acts as subject matter expert and escalation point for the day-to-day operational activities across the landscape of reporting and analytics applications utilized by the business
Manages a team of employees and contractors focused on the delivery of projects and maintaining the operational support of the BI environment
Manages relationships with vendor platform teams, support staff vendors, data providers, and other NBCUniversal Technology service providers
Sets and measures performance objectives and provides regular one-on-one feedback to all members of the team
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in leading a business intelligence development team and partnering with business users on the delivery of analytics solutions
Minimum 4 years of experience with managing medium to large-scale implementations through all phases of a software development lifecycle
Understanding of business intelligence architectures and hands-on experience implementing the technologies supporting a BI ecosystem ranging from traditional reporting and data discovery toolsets to database and ETL platforms
Analytical skills with the ability to evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, decompose or abstract information to provide effective communication to business and technical audiences, and provide recommendations and a point-of-view for key decisions
Proven knowledge of Waterfall and Agile Scrum project management processes and methodologies
Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and collaborate in a team environment as well as the ability to communicate with both leadership teams and end-users
Creative and original thinker who is highly self-motivated and has the ability to learn new technologies with a desire to have hands-on experience and an understanding of the business value that it provides
Ability to direct staff and cross-functional IT teams in the business alignment and integration of information technology services
Desired Characteristics
Experience with the business processes supporting the Home Entertainment or packaged media industry
Experience or certification with MicroStrategy analytics platform
Experience with advanced analytics platforms and toolsets along with the integration of big data into decision support systems
Ability to demonstrate initiative and work on assigned tasks independently, leveraging team members and resources as necessary
Ability to collaborate with and lead remote teams across varying time zones
