Role Purpose
The Associate Technical Project Manager will be responsible for supporting senior technical project management staff with the planning, managing and delivering of digital technology projects, from conception through testing and deployment, for the NBC Sports Group digital properties (including mobile and connected apps, video delivery and content management) with the overarching goal of providing deliverables within scope, budget and timelines. They would also be responsible for taking lead on project administration activities including but not limited to creating task management reports (JIRA, MS Project), supporting QA and UAT, some hands-on testing as needed, administering change management process as well as assisting with day-to-day processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
Lead smaller, and assist on larger, projects involving complex web and mobile applications, live and on-demand video streaming
Create detailed project schedules/plans, test plans, training plans, risk plans, communication plans, scope statements, etc. using generally accepted project management processes and tools
Manage change request process by having a clear understanding of the process, monitoring change requests submissions daily and ensuring that the multiple parties within the process are executing according to established workflow rules
Coordinate all project deliverables to ensure team is on track and communicate progress to all stakeholders in an organized and formal manner
Where applicable, test and confirm deliverables meet requirements
Proactively identify opportunities to adjust processes for efficiencies and engage the appropriate stakeholders prior to making any major changes
Help develop strategies and procedures for continual improvement for project delivery
Support quality control processes and ensure all team members understand the processes involved
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a Project Management or Coordinator role using JIRA task management, Confluence Wiki, MS Project or similar software, working within a technology team, technology department or an IT department
Additional Requirements
Proven experience to carry out project management concepts, preferably PMI‘s PMBOK, Waterfall and/or Agile SDLC methodologies
Technical aptitude to conceptually understand system deliverables and workflows
Ability and desire to continually learn about new technologies, project management methodologies and adapt to ever-changing business and industry needs
Experience working directly with web, mobile, connected and/or digital video development teams
Ability to organize meetings including; creating pertinent agendas, managing conversations, and summarizing the results into a set of decisions made and next steps
Excellent organization skills, communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to break down complex concepts, tasks or problems into more simple, understandable language and action plans
Ability to coordinate with multiple internal departments (Business Development, Sales, Network Operations, WebOps, Analytics, Ad Sales Operations, etc.) to complete projects on time
Ability to work with external resources, including vendors and freelancers
