Purpose:
The Statistical Analyst role has primary responsibility for the management of item and test data. This involves managing systems to monitor test items and tests to ensure they have the appropriate measurement characteristics and are still fit for purpose.
The post holder will work on the full range of assessments and any ad hoc projects which require validation data to be analysed.
The post holder reports to a senior member of the assessment team who leads on measurement related issues.
Key Accountabilities:
• Ensure international standards of data protection are adhered to
• Ensure data is stored in appropriate formats to ensure ease of analysis and appropriate security
• Update and report on key management information
• Ensure procedures are in place to manage data requirements
• Update statistics stored in CERTS and other systems
• Monitor and evaluate item performance through analysis and forensic data
• Escalate issues and risks in relation to item management and security
• Assist psychometric staff in producing item statistics and/or any regular quality control analysis and ensure items are calibrated
• For particular assessments co-ordinate item and test analysis ensuring data is available for awarding, item evaluation and other internal processes
• Reporting reliability and validity statistics including test form performance, cohort performance, and performance in relation to geographic distribution
• Contributing to customer support by providing Test Development and other staff with relevant data
• Communicating effectively and sensitively with colleagues and customers around the world, from a variety of cultures
• Training on and use advanced IT packages for data analysis
• Research and reporting on aspects of item development and security to a wider audience including conferences related to best practice in testing
Key Relationships:
• Liaising with staff members within the company responsible for production, administration and business development to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow
• Managing other staff and external contractors
• Manage temporary staff as required and support the training of staff or externals as required

Qualifications
Essential Skills
• Educated to graduate level
• Experience in statistics
• Knowledge of test development processes and good practice
• Experience of introducing new procedures
• Training on and use advanced IT packages; eg SQL query analysis, SPSS, Conquest
• Excellent Excel and database skills
Desirable Skills
• Knowledge of a second language desirable
• Experience of managing externals desirable
