JOB SUMMARY
Charter Communications is currently seeking a Vice President of Network Engineering within the Spectrum Enterprise organization. This position will be responsible for the equipment engineering and circuit design of the Spectrum Enterprise network as well as defining the network architecture strategy for the business. In addition, the VP of Network Engineering will have direct oversight and accountability for building and maintaining effective vendor relationships to ensure efficient delivery of products and services while maintaining the highest levels of operational discipline.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead a team of technical leaders and senior engineering professionals (subject matter experts) responsible for the design and planning of the Spectrum Enterprises IP and optical network
Responsible for establishing and maintaining engineering and operations standards to include design, deployment, and configuration standards for the organization
Team with Charter’s Advanced Engineering organization in the development of new architectures, platforms, and technologies and ensure these new designs are in compliance with the operational and engineering standards
Engineer all equipment to be installed into the Spectrum Enterprise network and provide the design layout records for all Enterprise customer circuits
Establish and maintain the capital and operating expense budget for the organization
Oversees network planning and capacity management of all network elements managed by the Spectrum Enterprise team
Serves as point of escalation for technical issues providing the highest tier technical support for the Spectrum Enterprise Operations organization
Responsible for vendor performance management for deliverable related to product roadmap, hardware & software issues, and overall operational performance
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
• Business and management acumen with technical expertise in IP networking, optical transport and access networks
• Extensive business and network planning expertise with experience managing large scale capital and operational budgets
• Strong understanding and working knowledge of network and software systems related to technologies, architectures, engineering, deployment, and operations
• Ability to lead a diverse group of individuals within the functional teams as well as other organizations
• Ability to build and sustain strong working relationships across multiple functions within the Operations, Engineering, Product, and Technology organizations
• Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization from executive leadership to front line employees
• Ability to develop, communicate, and implement strategies and tactics
• Ability to manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneously
• Ability to consistently deliver a set of products that follow industry and Charter standards and best practices
• Ability to prioritize, organize effectively, make decisions, and solve problems while working under pressure
• Demonstrate shared values and leadership style consistent with the Company’s values dedicated to innovation, strong business ethics, diversity, quality, and customer focused service
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience
Related Work Experience Number of Years
Engineering work experience 12-15+
Leadership experience in a Communications Service Provider environment 10+

MS, MBA, and/or Certifications in networking and design
