The Barnes & Noble Summer Internship program is designed to provide students with the exciting opportunity to apply their education in a “real-life” professional setting, while gaining valuable industry experience and transferable skills. This will be a paid 10 week program, in which Interns will partner with Mentors on accomplishing impactful company projects. The program will begin on June 5th and end on August 11th.
Department/Position Overview:
The Barnes & Noble IT Project Management Office (PMO) manages and provides consistent methodologies across all departments for significant IT projects, and oversees process improvement and procurement functions. The Project Management Intern will have the opportunity to work with our Project Management team on delivery of critical technology initiatives.
Position Responsibilities:
• Partner with PMO Director to design a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) solution
• Develop and implement the PPM solution
• Gather initial data for PPM launch and train the members of the PMO on the new process
• Facilitate management and tracking of the IT Project portfolio, including working with Lead PMs on status updates
• Assist with in-flight projects, as needed
Position Requirements:
• Students must have HS Diploma or GED and must be enrolled as at least rising Junior in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program, or enrolled in an accredited Master’s degree program.
• Must be available to work a 40 hour workweek, Monday through Friday.
• Preferred degree field: Information Systems or Project Management
• Strong organization, time-management, multi-tasking, problem-solving, interpersonal, analytical skills.
• Works well under deadlines; innovative and team-oriented.
• Experienced in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
