Responsibilities
Job Purpose: This Senior Producer position is a part of the MSNBC Live News Coverage team.
Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee the production of MSNBC original packages from assignment to completion
Senior MSNBC unilateral correspondent offers in special coverage events
Copy edit and senior script writing
Partner with legal and standards on scripts and final spots
Edit at any time, when necessary
Develop new ideas and pitches
Coordinate with edit department on scheduling
Collaborate with correspondents, producers and graphics department on special animation needs for packaged content
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in journalism or similar field
Must have at least 7 years of experience pitching stories and producing package pieces
Must have strong editorial judgment

Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news. Schedules will rotate, but must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and overnights. Must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice if needed.
Desired Qualifications:
Possess ability to develop story ideas, research, and plan segments
Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize stories with high potential for provocative, compelling television.
Knowledge of current events, politics and pop culture
Up to date on periodicals
Strong writing and scripting skills
Strong time management skills
Cable news experience is ideal but not essential
