Pearson has undertaken a major restructure to move from a federated set of businesses to a new ‘One Pearson‘ structure over the last two years. There are a number of programs and initiatives underway to ensure our infrastructure, data and systems can support the One Pearson structure.
The Enabling Program (TEP) is an exciting global program which will, through the simplification of our many systems and processes, transform the way Pearson's business operates. It will give us greater visibility of our people, greater insight into our financial performance and better bargaining power with our suppliers.
Role Overview & Purpose
The Reporting Global Capability Lead (GCL) will set the Pearson reporting strategy and work with the business and technology to ensure it is successfully delivered. The Reporting GCL will be the reporting business lead and draw in best practices to continually review and improve the global design and service model.
The GCL will take a critical view of the current processes and designs and prioritise where enhancements and development time and effort should be spent.
The feasibility of new requirements will be measured against cost effectiveness, robustness and scalability and documented accordingly. The role holder will work through cost benefits and acceptance criteria. As and when new requirements are deemed in scope, the GCL will partner closely with the Global Design Authority (GDA) and Solution teams in the end-to-end lifecycle through to benefit realisation.
The GCL will report to the Process Design and Innovation Lead and will work closely with their colleagues in the Process Design and Innovation along with the wider solution and programme teams. This is a global role and the preferred candidate will have gained experience in this field at an international level.
Key Deliverables
• Responsible for Global Design of the Reporting functional area in Pearson. This includes Financial, Project, Procurement and Supply Chain reporting using an Oracle toolset.
• Create a reporting roadmap with agreed improvement plans with the business and technology.
• Responsible for Service Management for Reporting.
• Document the requirements for any enhancements and agree the requirements with the relevant Global Capability Owner (GCO).
• Work with the deployment leads to deliver the enhancements to global design. These enhancements could be organisation, process, data or technology changes.
• Update global design post the deployment of the enhancement.
• Responsible for measuring and driving benefits from a cost perspective.
• Responsible for agreeing appropriate compromises, with the business, for fit gap in Reporting function.
• Responsible for escalating design issues if in-team resolution cannot be reached.
• Responsible for liaising with Business Unit Representatives at all relevant program meetings, for example Global Design Authority (GDA), as well as with key stakeholders to determine best design to meet Pearson requirements.
• Accountable for working supportively and collaboratively with other teams in the Program.
• Advocate the project and solutions to the business.
• Be an ambassador for the program.

Working Pattern/Hours
• Some out of hours may be required to fulfil international working
• The nature of the role may change in different phases of the program e.g. designing globally initially and then supporting local implementation
• Significant travel maybe required with peaks and troughs of travel at certain stages of the program. All travel will be in line with Pearson travel policy (available on request)
Qualifications
Essential Skills /Experience
• Possess an accountancy qualification (or equivalent) or be studying towards it.
• Knowledge and ability to find best practice reporting service, processes and design.
• Knowledge of Global reporting functions.
• Demonstrable experience of working on large company wide complex programs, delivering change/implementing new technologies.
• Experience of working with a range of stakeholders to implement change and manage complex processes from initiation to completion.
• Ability to communicate professionally, clearly and effectively to target audiences.
• Excellent customer service ethic and proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholders.
• Highly motivated self-starter with a high level of energy/motivation and evidence of a proactive approach to work/tasks/projects.
• Excellent project management, planning and organisational skills.
• A track record of building, maintaining and managing strong relationships within an international business and across many different stakeholder groups.
• Excellent communication skills and understanding of how information should be presented to get across important issues to different groups of stakeholders.
• Demonstrates the ability to effectively assess and resolve complex issues and problems.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of status, actions, risks and issues.
