Responsibilities
• Administration of end-to-end digital media workflows and systems: Apple/OSX Client and Server, LINUX, Windows Server, shared file storage (SAN), archive and backup, media production applications, media delivery and playout systems.
• Project Engineering: Gather client requirements; specify systems meeting cost, timeline and feature-set goals; design and implement hardware and software components
• System Documentation: Create and manage documentation of systems, including detailed engineering documentation and training materials for Maintenance and User groups.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of a wide range of technical disciplines:
• Core Systems
◦ OSX Client and Server, Open Directory and DNS, File Sharing, XSAN, StorNext, LINUX, Windows Server, Unix CLI, Scripting (BASH/Shell script and Applescript)
◦ System imaging and deployment, especially via Casper Suite
◦ Understanding Storage fundamentals, and design
• Digital Media Production
◦ Final Cut Pro Suite, Adobe Suite (esp. Photoshop, Premier, After Effects), ProTools, ToolsOnAir
◦ Media I/O hardware for Apple Systems, including SDI Video (AJA, Blackmagic), ProTools audio & control interfaces
◦ Media and file database, sharing, transcode and delivery systems – especially Soundminer, CatDV, Telestream Vantage
• Shared File Storage, Archive and Backup
◦ Storage Area Network (SAN) systems, specifically StorNext/XSAN
◦ Promise and Hitachi disk arrays, Quantum SAN appliances, Brocade and QLogic Fibre Channel switches
◦ LTO tape backup systems and workflow, including Quantum and SpectraLogic LTO tape libraries, and media-centric backup and archive software solutions (Archiware PresStore, Retrospect, Front Porch Digital DIVA)
• Digital Broadcast Production Fundamentals
◦ MADI Audio and SDI video, including a strong familiarity with broadcast production plant distribution (routing)
◦ Professional Application support (Adobe, FCP, etc.)
◦ File-based codecs, especially for Quicktime
◦ Ethernet and Fibre Channel networking
Qualifications/Requirements
• Must be a self-starter who is able to meet deadlines.
• Customer focused
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to stay focused and productive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing assignments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering and 5+ years of recent experience in a television broadcast environment, or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Strong hands-on problem solving skills with broadcast-related equipment and systems.
• Must be able to lift equipment packages weighing up to 70 pounds
