Penguin Young Readers, home of Mad Libs, Corduroy, Madeline, John Green, Rangers Apprentice, The 5th Wave, Gayle Forman, Sarah Dessen, Penguin Teen, and many other amazing brands, authors and series, is looking for an Assistant Director, Digital & Social Media Marketing. The ideal candidate is a strategic, digital first marketer, problem solver and creative thinker. The Assistant Director, Digital & Social Media Marketing is responsible for working with the Executive Director of the department to oversee the strategy and execution of social and digital initiatives for Penguin Young Readers titles, authors and brands.
Specifically, the Assistant Director:
1. Oversees the execution of social media strategies across all social media platforms (Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter).
2. Develops and manages communities for the Penguin Young Readers brand (Penguin Teen, Penguin Classroom, Penguin Kids, etc.).
3. Works with integrated teams to conceive innovative online marketing campaigns across the Penguin Young Readers imprints.
4. Oversees the execution of online marketing campaigns.
5. Manages and executes social media advertising campaigns.
6. Monitors and analyzes social media campaigns/trends and their impact on the company brand.
7. Collaborates with various internal departments (Editorial, Digital Publishing, Sales, Marketing, Publicity) to develop and execute digital marketing campaigns.
8. Works with Penguin Young Readers authors on social media strategy and execution.
9. Supervises a team of two employees.
Please apply if you meet the following minimum requirements:
• At least 7 years of experience executing social media marketing and digital programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Social community management experience
• Familiarity with digital analytics and media tracking tools
• Proven ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent supervisory skills and ability to manage a staff
• Proficiency with social media advertising, particuarily Facebook
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience working with teen and youth-related brands a plus
• Experience with content production for digital and social channels
