Penguin Random House and the Crown Publishing Group are seeking a self-directed, dynamic, and creative Senior Marketing Manager to oversee consumer marketing strategy across the division’s best-in-class digital communities. Reporting to the Vice President, Community Development for Crown Publishing, the role’s main objective will be to drive the department’s mission: to introduce amazing authors across all publishers and imprints, celebrate the love of reading, and guide readers to books that surprise and inspire.
The Ideal Candidate:
• An agile brand ambassador, helping deliver impressive audience growth and engagement while also facilitating syndication, partnerships, cross-promotions, and marketing requests.
• Knows how to play the traditional social media game, but is also a creative thinker, unafraid to experiment with new ways to increase audience engagement.
• Possesses a strong analytical mind, embracing data points that inform campaign iteration.
• Is confident, friendly, inclusive, and approachable in all environments, both online and in-person.
• Is a next-level fan of all things marketing.
General Responsibilities:
• Develop overarching campaigns rooted in organic and paid media strategies that result in brand awareness and growth for Crown’s online communities.
• Seek out and foster partnerships with top digital brands, to build audience reach and lead generation opportunities.
• Develop and execute paid/organic strategies, including partnership promotions, for the TASTE online cooking community (tastecooking.com).
• Manage and provide strategic marketing guidance to the marketing lead for Read It Forward (readitforward.com) and Blogging for Books (bloggingforbooks.com), who directly reports into this position.
• Define audience segments across authors, communities, and Crown Publishing brand, and develop actionable recommendations to align with each audience.
• Lead strategy for display and sponsored advertising across all online communities.
Requirements:
• 5+ Years overseeing online marketing strategies for digital brands. Publishing experience not necessary, however the candidate must have an affinity for storytelling, authors, and books. Experience can be in-house or via a client-rich digital marketing agency.
• Substantial social media profile management experience, including social listening and audience segmentation strategies.
• Experience meeting goals against varied KPIs such as traffic, lead generation, and sales conversion targets.
• Familiarity with analytics programs such as Google Analytics or Omniture
• The ideal candidate possesses an entrepreneurial spirit, is forward-thinking, agile, proactive, and an energetic collaborator.
• College degree, B.A. or above, preferred (or equivalent experience).
