Summary
National Geographic seeks a dynamic individual to coordinate operations for the Washington DC Live Events and Experiences The operations coordinator will help organize the Fall 2017 season and be point coordinator for the July summer festival. This position will manage contracts, travel, invoicing and payment for presenters. Additionally, the position handles the collection of visual and audio assets for marketing and production purposes, and assist NG Live staff with the staging of productions to ensure the highest presentation quality. The position assists with programming, and coordinates NG Live needs with service divisions, to ensure that information is disseminated to other key Society departments regularly. Hours are variable and may include weekends and evenings.
Responsibilities
1. Coordinates all aspects of creation, distribution, and maintenance of contracts and records; Handles speaker, external vendor, and internal department payments. (25%)
2. Coordinator of the summer family festival, arranging vendors and activities and liaison to other NGS and NGP divisions. (35%)
3. Arranges travel and hotel accommodations for speakers (fall season). (15%)
4. Obtains necessary program content from external and internal partners and assists with brochure development (fall season) (15%)
5. Serves as the liaison with service groups—Visitor Services, Audiovisual, Building Services, Security. (10%)
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum Years and Type of Experience
At least 3 years of experience in events production, planning and management.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills; Experience in theatrical, video or television production a plus. Keynote, Prezi, Playback Pro, understanding of media integration into social media; facility with spreadsheets; Ability to work nights and weekends.
