Job Description:
Responsibilities/Tasks
• Framing and advocating the business needs within IT and working with the business owner(s) to make certain business goals and priorities are met, while minimizing total cost of ownership and operation within the development team.
• Participate in technical design and application architecture sessions as needed
• Participate in the development/maintenance of application portfolio roadmaps
• Assist in the generation of viable business cases that include staffing information, sourcing information, and risk mitigation plans
• Develop and personally understand the business requirements that are required and work closely with the business to obtain agreement on the intended outcome of projects
• Prepare recommendations for the IT operating and capital budgets
• Select, develop and manage development team(s) comprised of staff and/or outsourced vendors to develop and implement project requirements conforming to established standards
• Manage all team members, their assignments, and allocations
• Monitor and coach team in their effectiveness in meeting the business needs
• Provide leadership by establishing department and individuals goals
• Lead the project execution and quality assurance for all applications within the IT portfolio
• Continuously improve and supervise the software development process, setting short-term objectives and assessing progress as defined by the selected software development methodology
• Manage vendor relationships with third-party software companies
• Work with the project managers to objectively evaluate team and vendor delivery performance versus schedule, cost, and quality and provide feedback on a periodic basis to staff and vendor
• Develop and execute post development support plan and process to ensure that the product has the necessary resources to support during the life of the application
• Analyze operations data and institute procedural changes where warranted to effect cost reduction through more efficient systems, operations, and schedules
• Drive alignment with Enterprise Architecture, Development and Security standards
Skills & Experience
• 10 years of IT Management experience across all aspects of application development required and some eCommerce experience required
• More than 8 years experience developing and leading an internal and third party vendor development and support team with full SDLC lifecycle for software maintenance/development/implementation projects with in both Agile and Waterfall Technologies
• Well versed with SDLC and associated toolsets from Requirements to Operations
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Creative, original thinker, not constrained by status quo, and able to show initiative with conceptual intelligence
• Understands hardware and system software functions, particularly those used by the business, aspires to understand the end to end business process enabled by the technology
• Programming language familiarity such as: JQuery, JSP, HTML, Ruby, CSS, XML\XSLT, JavaScript, Oracle BRM, RedHat, MS-SQL Server, and web techniques such as responsive design and familiarity with web standards
• Ability to work with and lead cross-functional teams
• Strong decision-making abilities
• Strong organizational and problem solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and self-motivate other members of the team
• Teamwork & collaboration skills to work across organizations and lead cross-functional teams
