DESCRIPTION:
Last September, when All Access was launched, CBS became the first broadcast company to create a paid service without partnering with a paid cable provider. In short, we broke new ground in the industry by providing robust, interactive services with unprecedented access to local content. At the same time, we built an innovative and exciting working environment to inspire and reward the cutting edge ideas, creativity, and technical/operational expertise of the people who work in our Burbank facility.
We are currently looking for a Manager of Video Operations with the ability to balance multiple, concurrent projects and rapidly changing priorities in a results-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
Drive operational planning and execution of all aspects of live TV streaming.
Define, document, track, and recommend best practices for Internet delivery of live TV.
Manage third party live tv integrations.
Provide technical and operational expertise and guidance.
Maintain contact with key technical vendors that cover encoding, delivery, and program/schedule management.
Interface with key operational resources in the operations departments of local broadcast stations to integrate enhancements or resolve problems.
Monitor the quality of service across all stations and respond to issues quickly by providing support, troubleshooting, identifying root causes, and proactively implementing corrective actions.
Focus on how metadata is used along with live streams and push for improvements in program information.
Understand the technical processes involved in digital live television streaming
Have highly developed communication skills
Responsible for creating integration and workflow documentations for third party sites and apps
Manage MVPD and VMVPD live TV workflows and integrations
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of experience in operations, broadcast technology, or a related field.
Strong understanding of TV production (live and non-live), digital media, out-of-home, and broadcast operations.
Familiarity with broadcast automation systems. Should we eliminate the broadcast portion?
Experience working with 3rd party vendors that cover encoding, delivery, and program/schedule management.
Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate teams- Experience directly supervising a staff a plus.
Functional knowledge of digital measurement platforms (such as Omniture) and competitive tracking services (comScore).
Knowledge of CVN, streaming technologies, Charles, Wireshark, and encoding settings, Google Apps, Microsoft Project, Visio, PowerPoint, and other applications as well as IT network (LAN/WAN/SAN), storage, server, desktop, and business systems.
Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously within aggressive deadlines.
Must be self-motivated, entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, challenged by accountability, and an innovator with technical savvy.
Must successfully pass a background check.
In addition, CBS will be guided by applicable federal, state and local laws when considering for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories.
