DESCRIPTION:
TVGuide.com is seeking a talented, experienced editor to be in charge of guiding our feature and tentpole coverage.
The ideal candidate will work with the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor to create and maintain an evolving beat of TV shows and topics for a bicoastal team of talented features writers. He or she will work with writers to execute a varied arsenal of story and video pitches, assist in their execution, edit all copy and maintain an ongoing editorial calendar.
In addition, they’ll head up our tentpole coverage, ranging from seasonal previews, to in-depth coverage of hot topics and the latest TV shows.
The goal of the features department is to cast a thoughtful eye on the world of television: Why do we love or hate it? What does it say about us? We want our writers to author well-reported, memorable, shareable pieces that will spark conversation both on the site and on social media. They will run from the sublime to the ridiculous, including interviews and reported pieces as well as essays and smart, funny riffs.
Please submit a cover letter, resume and three writing samples that best represent your abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Five to seven years of hands-on, deadline-driven online editorial experience, preferably for an entertainment publication
Experience managing and mentoring a team of writers with patience and support
A strong knowledge of pop culture — specifically the television business — and a passion for covering it
An eye towards the future of entertainment journalism, with a knack for predicting and creating trends
The ability to gather and share reputable news sources and cover a beat
Facility with online publishing systems and the ability to learn and use new technologies
Familiarity with all forms of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Tumblr and Instagram
Experience with and a willingness to appear in videos and on television for TVGuide.com
Must successfully pass a background check.
In addition, CBS will be guided by applicable federal, state and local laws when considering for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories.
