General Summary
Under the general supervision of senior vice president, this position directs account teams in the planning, recommending and implementing of proactive and strategic communication initiatives for agency clients. Working with the senior vice president, this position is responsible for the overall profitability of the business unit, responsible for driving the revenue growth, and for working with existing clients to develop organic opportunities for agency work. This position is also responsible for the professional development and management of account teams.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
Account Service
• Provides overall leadership and direction to account managers and account teams in planning and developing programs and services which are consistent with the client’s mission and strategic plans.
• Provides strategic counsel to the client on marketing programs, planning and resource needs.
• Works with account managers to ensure proper fiscal management of client’s budget. Has overall accountability for the development, management and evaluation of operating budget, and for achieving objectives while operating within budgeted expense targets
• Ensures that the client and agency complies with all regulations, confidentiality issues and ethical standards within the profession and leads the team in a way consistent with the imre Way.
New Business Development
• As part of the agency’s annual growth strategy, is directly responsible for developing new business efforts for the business unit including research, targeting, pitching and closing of the prospect.
• Responsible for cultivating organic growth opportunities with existing clients and assists account supervisors in their efforts to grow their account work.
Personnel Management and Development
• Responsible for management of objectives and goals for business unit team members. Monitors team member’s progress and prepares performance reviews for account managers. Works with account managers to provide consistent reviews of team members.
• Provides counsel and mentoring to account managers and team members.
• Identifies and facilitates training opportunities for account team members within set objectives and agency goals and resources.
Administrative
• Reviews and approves expense reports, PTO requests and schedules and training requests for account team members.
• Represents agency in various professional societies or other associations deemed appropriate by senior vice president, president or chief operating officer.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Position requires exceptional oral and written communications skills and knowledge of financial services marketing, digital, social and public relations strategies, techniques and procedures in order to manage financial services marketing, public relations, social and digital campaigns or projects. A bachelor’s degree in mass communications, public relations, English, journalism or a closely related field is required. Masters degree is preferred.
1. Work requires knowledge of marketing, digital, social and public relations strategies and evaluation techniques, and skills necessary to deal effectively with clients – normally acquired through 7-10 years of progressively more responsible work experience, preferably in an agency setting with financial clients.
1. Position requires extensive knowledge and understanding of the financial industry including FINRA regulations in relation to communications and how it may impact the industry.
1. Work requires interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a variety of influential internal, external, client, and industry personnel, to represent clients to various groups, and to lead, direct and mentor subordinate staff.
1. Position requires problem solving and conceptual skills to recommend approaches and methods; to plan, coordinate, and evaluate campaigns or projects; to prepare reports and analyses; to project trends and developments in the field; and to recommend short-term and long-range goals and strategies based on such.
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to the Senior Vice President.
