Are you passionate about cloud computing and its ability to transform the way companies deliver value to their customers? NaviSite is seeking experienced and dynamic cloud thought leaders to drive new Quality and reliability directions for our cloud and managed hosting solutions. This role is critical in defining and enforcing the technical and application quality standards, automation upon which NaviSite will services and solutions for Managed and Cloud Services to our customers. Working across organizations, a Director of QA to identify practices, tools and technologies by defining/implementing/enforcing best practices for new and existing customers. The Director of Quality is a high impact, very visible role, responsible for driving best of breed technologies and methodologies to ensure best of the breed offerings support delivery of NaviSite services.
The ideal candidate will have experience in defining quality standards, tools, systems, processes and implementing forward looking technologies and success leading technical and economic value discussions with organization at all levels, changing perspective on solution quality. The success of this role depends on strong technical acumen, excellent communication skills, and ability to collaborate with generalists, both practical on the ground leadership as well as invigorating an organization about quality, and enabling specialists in the cloud delivery teams (including technology, partners, services, product engineering).
The QA Director will own end-to-end product and solution quality, including designing test frameworks, and tools for testing in QA and production environments, gathering a variety of data to support sophisticated quality metrics, and other quality related programs. The QA Director will further support the business and development teams through the ownership of non-deterministic data quality and quality assurance tools. The successful candidate will quickly gain a deep knowledge of the products supported. We are looking for an experienced, innovative, and hands-on manager who can coordinate simultaneous test efforts across multiple development teams as well as put in place policies and processes which drive the quality of our software and solution. The ideal candidate will have experience managing teams in geographically diverse environments as well as within more established companies, someone who can wear multiple hats and be strategic and tactical. This role is definitely not just a test manager role, but involves a whole new level of ownership of quality. Activities will include working with the development and product management teams to maintain best practices, integrating continuous automated testing, the instantiation of automation scripts, maintenance and operation of a CI/CD software pipeline, and working with product teams to promote DevOps principles
Basic Qualifications
• Computer science or related field with 5+ years of relevant management experience and at least 3+ years of experience as a people manager leading teams. Significant Enterprise IT and virtualization (VMWare, Azure experience is a must)
• Proven track record to creating and executing on highly effective quality processes within an agile product development environment
• Experience owning end-to-end software quality, including design and implementation of test frameworks, automated test creation and execution.
• Has in-depth knowledge of both UI and backend service test automation with view to operational processes.
• Is innovative, can simplify, and has relentlessly high standards.
• Can juggle testing of multiple releases with multiple dependencies.
• Able to handle an extremely fast pace while maintaining the highest quality standards.
• Has experience and conviction around measures to quantify software quality.
• Can propose tradeoffs and provide risk assessment to stakeholders.
• Maintains composure in the face of highly ambiguous environments and constant change.
• Thinks big, has vision and is a vocal leader and can communicate on that vision to team members.
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree in computer science or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience and at least 5+ years of experience as a people manager leading teams of individual contributor and leads.
• Is experienced with scrum and Scaled Agile Framework
• Is experienced with designing tools and frameworks
• Experience managing quality assurance teams of 6+ people who are geographically dispersed.
• Experience with performance and scalability testing, latency testing a plus
• Deep understanding of system architecture and experience with large complex distributed transactional systems.
