DESCRIPTION:
TechRepublic has a great opportunity for a skilled editor who wants to join one of the largest brands in digital media. If you're an organized self-starter who can wear many hats and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, this job is for you. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, where the TechRepublic has had its editorial departments since the dot com boom, this position focuses on producing content for three CBSI brands; TechRepublic, Tech Pro Research, and ZDNet. This is the ideal role for a journalist who wants to get invaluable experience in the growing digital media industry at one of the world's top 10 online networks.
Key Responsibilities:
The Associate Editor's duties include, but are not limited to:
Edit and publish content (articles, galleries, videos, research reports, downloads, etc.)
Create content on general assignment
Make assignments to freelance writers
Manage paperwork for freelance writers
Process invoices and prepare expense reports
Manage editorial projects as necessary
Working relationships:
The Associate Editor reports directly to the Managing Editor, TechRepublic and Tech Pro Research. To succeed, the Associate Editor will need to build strong working relationships with fellow journalists, CBS Interactive coworkers, company management, and technology vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior editorial/online media experience
High standards of quality and journalistic integrity
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Attention to detail
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills, including Google Docs and Microsoft Office
Must be adaptable; since the media and tech industries are two of the fastest changing industries on the planet, priorities change rapidly and regularly
Must be trustworthy, committed, considerate, and a good listener; high emotional IQ
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred
Must successfully pass a background check.
In addition, CBS will be guided by applicable federal, state and local laws when considering for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories.
