Senior UX Designer
We’re looking for a Senior UX Designer. You’ll be part of the UXD department at Springer Nature, London - sndigital.springernature.com. The job is based in London, working with team members in Germany and India.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
INTEGRATION OF NEW DIGITISED CONTENT
In the first six months, you will investigate and design optimised user flows for our new database on materials.springer.com, to increase sales of the product to academic and corporate institutions.
You will:
• Design a user flow to improve user experience across the site and improve access to information
• Undertake research and use your findings to design a better user experience
• Encourage the team to work in an agile and iterative way
• Help the team in India move from working in a waterfall environment towards a more iterative approach
UX STRATEGY FOR THE PRODUCT
Within three months,you will identify how the product is meeting the customer needs and which areas need attention. You will also work with the team and product owner to identify success criteria.
You will:
• Work with the distributed team in Germany and India to prioritise and implement the changes required to satisfy the success criteria and review every 6 months
• Undertake user research to identify customer needs and map out customer journeys to prioritise areas of weakness
• Review the work and identify areas of higher priority
DAILY DELIVERY
As an essential part of the daily product development, you will establish an iterative design process, working closely with all members of your team.
You will:
• Work with developers to create a lightweight and rapid delivery process
• Participate in daily calls/meetings with the business and Product Owner
• Travel to our German and Indian offices (usually 3 or 4 trips a year), as well as research trips to other destinations
• Produce and share designs within the team, aligned with product requirements
• Focus on building strong working relationships with distributed team members
• Instil a collaborative approach to the design process
USER RESEARCH
You will be directly responsible for the research throughout the life cycle of the project. The research lead will support you in designing and establishing a research program in order to validate the design decisions instead of design through assumptions.
You will:
• Apply relevant research methods depending on the project schedules and deadlines
• Work closely with the research lead to create and update a panel of users for your project
• Organise, run and analyse the sessions with users
• Collaborate with the Market Research department to validate the design hypothesis about user behaviours and attitudes
• Motivate and involve the team members in the research activities
• Share findings within the project team and the design team
