The Marketing Automation Manager is a key role in Blackboard’s Central Marketing group, leading the best practices, execution and management of the company’s outbound demand generation programs. The position works in close partnership with the company’s demand generation teams in our industry vertical marketing teams (K12, Higher Education, Business and Government) in both US and International markets. They are charged with driving shared best practices for digital marketing and demand generation throughout the company, and optimizing the use of marketing automation.
The Marketing Automation Manager will serve as the subject-matter-expert in integrated email marketing programs, including development, execution and measurement of results. This person will also provide guidance on the development and execution of nurture campaign strategies, lead-generation best practices, and actions needed to streamline lead pipeline management.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of competency in marketing automation execution, system design, and accountability to results.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Develop technical design to support business requests and work closely with teams to define and implement new functionality and product features
• Develop the framework and processes for all programs, templates and technical designs of the Marketing Automation platform, including all training, support and documentation for end users
• Provide feedback, guidance, and expertise to the marketing automation system end users on business needs/requirements related to campaign development, technical integration and best practices in demand generation.
• Develop and execute lead capture and nurture strategies, and continuously monitor and test effectiveness
• Develop reports that show the effectiveness of campaigns, along with short term analysis, trends and recommendations
• Manage the creation of new segments and campaign workflows
• Develop and maintain campaign workflows designed to deliver content in accordance with the sales cycle stages and effectively move prospects through the buyer’s journey
• Ensure that campaigns produced through the marketing automation system adhere to operational and reporting standards
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop customized reports to validate processes, results and business impact of marketing automation initiatives.
• Perform day-to-day system maintenance and configuration including integration with salesforce.com
• Responsible for system administration for the company’s marketing automation system.
• Provide overflow support to email production teams as required
Required Qualifications
• 6+ years of digital marketing experience building and managing inbound and outbound integrated email-centric marketing programs
• Proven experience in driving lead generation efforts within digital channels including search, social media, paid media and outbound marketing
• Proven knowledge and experience with, contemporary marketing models including lead scoring, pipeline design, and automated campaign frameworks
• Proven expertise in the utilization of analytics and data to recommend impactful marketing decisions
• Working knowledge of Salesforce, account based marketing tools, and business intelligence or marketing analytics platforms such as Google Analytics or DOMO
• Proven ability to lead through influence, and affect results in matrixed organizations
Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Eloqua or a similar marketing automation platform
• Knowledge/experience with web personalization
• Education industry experience a plus, but not required.
