The Manager, Content and Editorial Services will support the Content and Editorial team in a hybrid product management and editorial role, responsible for researching, coordinating, project-managing, trafficking, reviewing, fact-checking, editing, approving and delivering various production-ready content assets, primarily with respect to consumer-facing physical packaging. The U.S.-based role will partner with European Services, the International Catalog Marketing Group and Sony’s international affiliate offices to create bespoke products built from U.S.-owned repertoire. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of, and passion for, 20th century popular music and the culture surrounding it, including various physical and digital formats, as well as an acute understanding of and appreciation for the fan and record collector mentality. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Content & Editorial Services.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the efficient, timely, and accurate delivery of Content and Editorial assets across a significant number of simultaneously active projects with both global and local Sony Music divisions and our third party clients
• Operate within tight timelines and act quickly to launch projects, review content assets, and respond to internal and/or client correspondence
• Establish and implement worldwide best practices and quality standards in collaboration with Senior Director, Content & Editorial Services
• Develop and distribute style guides to international affiliates and third party partners
• Research and source creative assets including original album art and Sony-owned photography
• Communicate graphic requests (including scanning and photo retouching) to Creative Services and/or internal pre-press departments and ensure that project deliverables stay within deadline and on budget
• Set timeline and work closely with Creative Services to assemble complete package text document for each project by editing, fact-checking and compiling information provided by Label Copy Coordinator, A&R department, outside producers and copywriters as well as your own archival research
• Liaise with A&R department, Label Copy Coordinators and Business & Legal Affairs to ensure all credits are up to date and accurate
• Understand and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions
• Edit liner notes for content, length, tone and adherence to the highest editorial standards
• Distribute assets including text, images, logos to Creative partner
• Review layouts to ensure complete accuracy and freedom from errors including correct manufacturer templates
• Input copyedits and design notes to layouts (using Adobe Acrobat) and output layouts to Creative team, providing clear and efficient direction along with timeline expectation
• Traffic layouts for approvals—internal, legal, client—as applicable then provide final approval of layouts, print proofs and confirming PDFs from manufacturer and/or European Services
• Manage internal team and client needs and expectations; anticipate and address issues that may impact schedules or affect relationships
• Assist other Editorial team members as needed in urgent or absence situations by occasionally writing short-form content assets such as ads, social media posts, scripts, blurbs, infographics, email blasts, etc
Qualifications:
• Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in a related field
• Highly developed organizational, planning and time management skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks, projects and clients in a fast-paced environment based on the evolving workload
• Strong problem solving skills
• Acute attention to detail; excellent editing and proofreading skills; ability to work within established guidelines
• Initiative and instinct – ability to make decisions based on understanding of best practices and needs
• Creative, visual and graphic orientation with good feel for aesthetic considerations
• Knowledge of Sony Music catalog across its various artists, labels, genres and decades
• Ability to effectively communicate amongst various teams
• Adaptability
• Proficiency in MS Office suite and Abode Acrobat
• Knowledge of AP and MLA standards
• Writing skills across a wide variety of mediums, including corporate copywriting, social media, blogging, script-writing, etc.
• Bi or multi-lingual language skills a plus
• Familiarity with InDesign, Quark and/or Photoshop a plus
