Job Description
Ubisoft Entertainment, a global leader in the video games and entertainment software industry, is currently seeking a full-time Lead Designer for our San Francisco development studio. We are looking for a highly talented, motivated and experienced person to help guide the creation of an exciting new cross-platform game.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Take a hands-on approach to architecting and designing the game, then champion, maintain and polish the development of that vision through prototyping, production and submission phases.
Create and manage complete Game Design Documents including game mechanics, story creation, level design and game flow.
Lead the design team, providing day-to-day and long-term direction, goals, mentoring, and professional guidance.
Collaborate and coordinate with other discipline team leads to service their needs, champion the needs of the design team, and maintain a strong flow of cross-disciplinary information.
Work with the production, programmers, design and art leads to create task and schedule estimates for design team and track development efforts across the team
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in game design across multiple platforms with at least 3 years in a lead role.
Qualified individuals are expected to be organized, with excellent communication skills, and have a proven track record in management of design teams.
Have effective analytical, written, oral, team, interpersonal, planning and organizational skills.
Have a demonstrable knowledge of various genres of games, game-play mechanics and game-play balancing techniques, and the ability to apply that knowledge to real-world design challenges.
Have a strong background in, and a love of, music and music based games.
Candidate should be self motivated, with a strong work ethic and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate, communicate and work well other disciplines.
