JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting with application configurations, OS patch management and other efforts across Charter’s Operational Support Systems (OSS) organization. Works closely with Network Operations team, IT, and various other organizations to assess, prioritize and drive operational improvements and stability for applications. Intern will assist in transforming OSS team into new tiered Service Center operations team.
Works on assignments that will span one or more of the following areas:
• Network Management Systems
• Application confirguration
• Reporting & Metrics
• OS and Application patch management
• Service Center Tiered documentation and transition planning
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works with multiple (OSS) applications engineers to document and help to operate the applications.
• Assists teams in interpreting and creating support processes and procedures for Service Center Tier 1 team and transition
• Assists application teams in configuration of monitoring devices, and working task tickets per team leads requests
• Assists application teams in operating system (OS) and application upgrades as needed
• Assists application teams on project deliverables as needed, or specified by project leads.
• Any other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills / Abilities and Knowledge
Working knowledge of the following:
• Network architectures, TCP/IP protocols and topology
• Network and system security vulnerabilities
• Network management protocols and concepts
Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
• Ability to analyze and interpret data and synthesize recommendations
• Able to balance competing priorities, have a strong process orientation
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Presentation skills
• Judgment and initiative
BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• MUST BE currently enrolled in a Graduate Coursework in Computer Science, Network management, Telecommunications or related field
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
Education:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science and/or Software Engineering
Currently enrolled in a Techncial or Telecommunication Masters Programs
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment
No travel required
