The company is experiencing an impressive period of growth and its expansion has led us to establish the Publishing Academies (PA) to provide high-quality training workshops for journal editors, authors, and peer reviewers worldwide.
We are looking for a talented individual to manage and deliver training workshops for journal editors and researchers in the Middle East (neighbouring regions) and to support editorial/publishing initiatives in the region.
Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality training for journal editors, authors, and peer reviewers in Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA)
◦ Ensure the training is kept up-to-date, suited to the needs of different audiences in EMEA and that the quality is maintained
◦ Ensure the successful delivery of each event:
• Schedule when the workshops can take place based on a range of, sometimes competing, criteria;
• Ensure a high-quality service is provided in line with client needs;
• Manage the P&Ls for each training event;
• Create the agenda, slides and training collateral for each event based on the needs of the clients and in collaboration with the client and business development colleagues, as necessary;
• Deliver the training or organise suitable alternative training resources.
◦ Support meeting or exceeding the goals of the service as laid out in the company forecast
◦ Support the Editorial Development Manager in developing the Publishing Academies
• Prepare thorough evaluation reports about the editorial quality of journals followed by one-on-one consultations with the associated journal editor(s)
• Provided one-on-one consultations in person or online with authors to help them improve the quality of their manuscripts prior to submission
• Generate activity and participant satisfaction reports as necessary for client and/or internal use
• Support business development colleagues to drive sales of the workshops (travel to client meetings may be required) and other Springer Nature products and services, including by providing publishing insight analysis reports.
• Support editorial and publishing initiatives in the region, as required
• May include travel and work in regions outside of EMEA as needed
• Any other reasonable task

Experience, skills and qualifications
Essential
• Experience working as a publisher and/or editor
Desirable
• PhD in natural sciences
Skills/knowledge
• Fluency in English required, proficiency in Arabic preferred
• A strong written and oral communicator, able to clearly and effectively communicate ideas to journal editors, researchers and clients at various levels of seniority, as well as colleagues
• Proven project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
Desirable
• Experience delivering training or teaching
• Experience as a researcher
• Publishing experience in scientific journals
