Come join the USA TODAY NETWORK 2017 Internship Program as a Security Analyst Intern with our Technology team. The program will last a minimum of eight weeks and offers mentoring from those at the top of their game, networking opportunities and provides real world experience in a fun, start- up like environment. Our interns are part of the team and will work on meaningful projects throughout the program and will have the opportunity to connect with other interns and engage in professional development activities supplemental to the job. This is a paid internship.
Purpose: We're looking for someone in security/risk management track who has a general knowledge of desktop/server operating systems.
Over the course of this internship, you will...
• Track and report on information security incidents.
• Develop reports and assessments, document information security events, document trends, analyze threat intelligence, and perform escalation and reporting of incidents.
• Develop, coordinate, and collaborate with internal and external partners concerning strategic and tactical analysis in support of the Information Security Program. Assist the Manager in preparing and delivering comprehensive information security documentation.
• Gather, examine, search, research, analyze, and report on digital information evidence.
• Mitigate threats and risks to the organization by enhancing the Program’s threat indicator awareness and be an active member of the organization’s security incident response team (SIRT).
• Help computer users when they need to install or learn about new security products and procedures.
• Mitigate vulnerabilities.
REQUIREMENTS
• Degree-seeking student currently enrolled at a college or university with a GPA of at least 3.0
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Familiarity with Cloud technology
• Understanding of network Protocols
• Basic programming techniques
• Understanding of information security concepts and principles such as authentication, access control and log analysis
• Well organized, detail oriented, adaptable and flexible
• Ability to multi-task and work well in a team environment
• Excellent organizational, analytical and oral and written communication skills
• Previous internship experience is a plus
• Technical skills required for multiple aspects of the role
• Ideal candidates will possess strong Office and PC skills.
