DESCRIPTION:
Data plays a central role at CBS Interactive. Our Business Intelligence team is a crucial part of driving business, product, and operational decisions by providing rich data, strategic insights and analytical products. We are expanding our team and are looking for a Analyst who thrives in a fast-paced, and collaborative environment, and who is energized by using data to optimize and grow the world’s #1 broadcast network online (CBS.com and CBS All Access).
The perfect fit for this role will be able to sort through deep data sets and tell stories through data to support business hypotheses. The candidate should be data-curious and passionate, a good communicator, smart, flexible and produces exceptionally high quality work.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of:
Building and managing daily reports and dashboards showing the health of key business metrics across platforms and various groups, including product management, executives, marketing, editorial, or sales
Developing ad-hoc analysis, distilling complex analytical results down to concise summary and presenting actionable insights to non-technical audiences.
Designing and performing detailed analyses to help deepen understanding of customer activity across all digital platforms including web, mobile, connected devices, as well as video subscription services
Working with data engineers to most efficiently organize and summarize data to facilitate analysis
Working with senior management to identify new data sets that can show effectiveness of new business initiatives
Applying sophisticated computational, statistical, and modeling techniques in support of decision-making; techniques include A/B testing, predictive analysis, data mining, acquisition and churn analysis, clustering and segmentation
You’ll be part of a team that helps tackle challenging questions, including:
How is the business pacing towards goal and how will milestones impact the performance of the business in future?
How do we enhance the user experience across various digital platforms?
What are the different video viewing behaviors of CBS.com/CBS All Access users and do these differ across various dimensions such as time, platform, geography, etc?
How should CBS.com and CBS All Access deliver the best content to our users and how do we increase content consumption?
Who are our high risk CBS All Access users and how do we retain them?
How effective are our marketing campaigns?
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Math, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent quantitative field
2+ years of relevant working experience in a similar role, preferably for an online entertainment media property
Proficient in advanced SQL coding across various databases and experienced in querying large, complex, and raw data sets in Teradata, Hadoop or similar environments
Proficient with analytical tools supporting data analysis, reporting, and visualization (R, Adobe, Tableau, Excel)
Expert users of web analytics (Adobe, Google Analytics) and 3rd party syndicated audience measurement services (comScore, Nielsen)
A scripting language, e.g. Python, Java
Strong detail-orientation with a penchant for data accuracy
Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
Experience in web/video analytics and subscription services is a plus
Exemplary relationship builder who is consultative in nature and able to quickly form partnerships with colleagues and customers
Must successfully pass a background check
Position can be based in San Francisco OR Los Angeles.
