Summary of Internship
The intern will support the Nat Geo Educator Certification Program and Educator Community by drafting communication documents and blog posts, supporting program and event logistics, and responding to inquiries from program participants. The intern will gain experience and mentorship in the fields of communications, community management, program management, and education.
The Nat Geo Educator Certification Program is a free professional development program for classroom and informal educators. Participants utilize National Geographic resources with their students and connect with a community of like-minded educators and National Geographic staff.
Principle Responsibilities
1. Assist with the educator certification process by supporting educators throughout the process and engaging with them on the digital educator community and through a bi-weekly newsletter. (30%)
2. Interview educators and help draft posts for the education blog. (30%)
3. Research and compile classroom activities and resources to be shared on the educator community. (25%)
4. Assist with department-wide events and workshops, including help before, during, and after events. (15%)
Related Field of Study Required
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in a variety of disciplines, such as education, English/language arts, social sciences, sciences, communications, or marketing
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong customer service skills
• Comfortable working with digital tools and platforms
• Interest in working with classroom teachers preferred
