Position Summary:
SiriusXM is looking for a strong leader and collaborative team player to drive our 24x7 streaming infrastructure DevOps Team -- specifically focusing on scalable deployments of both infrastructure and security as code. The candidate will supervise a team responsible for administering, maintaining and supporting applications, hardware and configurations that are deployed across the Sirius XM's Streaming infrastructure. The candidate will coach and supervise the performance of a wide variety of software/hardware configuration/maintenance and operational support tasks of many varied back end systems, including, but not limited to, Windows/Linux server OS/software, server class hardware, VMware VSphere, AWS Infrastructure, Postgres/SQL/Cassandra, Dynamo DB databases and various application servers. The leader will lead and be accountable for the active monitoring of environments, working with development teams to ensure uptime/stability. The position is considered to be on-call and the candidate will be expected to ensure the coverage of frequent after-hours deployments/maintenance windows. This position is both managerial and a hands on role. The focus encompasses streaming deployment and security architecture within the SiriusXM streaming areas. This also includes expanded responsibilities surrounding all infrastructure support including application monitoring, software build machines, and software support servers eg. Jira. The candidate should be able to manage and propose robust solutions that scale, have a penchant for solving tough technical problems, and a dedication to ensuring high-availability. The candidate should be able to significantly lower the risk of operations and increase our streaming SLA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of engineers responsible for the deployment, monitoring, and up time of streaming systems.
• Measure and monitor the streaming SLA.
• Contribute to maintaining a streaming environment SLA of 99.99%.
• Prevent and/or detect security issues.
• Server Administration and Maintenance for streaming software development tools such as Jira, APMs, etc.
• 24x7 availability for support and after hours work in order to support the availability and uptime requirements of the business.
• Devising, planning and executing streaming infrastructure initiatives.
• Best practices with regard to code deployment for escalation of services.
• Deploy security & configuration as repeatable -- infrastructure as code.
• Work closely with streaming architects and developers.
• Cost tracking of cloud resources, and minimization of expenditures.
• Identify new technologies that can be leveraged for improved seamless and scalable operations.
• Maintain distinct environments that scale automatically.
• Specify and manage the provisioning of deployment environments.
• Investigate and deploy platform agnostic solutions when possible.
• Participate in technical design and architecture working closely with the Tech Lead -- Streaming Media Services.
• Document all DevOps design, code, build and release procedures.
• Work directly with Development, Program Management, and IT Ops on all phases of SDLC.
• Knowledge of industry-standard application architectures, design patterns and technology standards and best practices.
• Is 'the' 2nd tier of support. The goal is to keep the incidents contained to tier 2.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervision of at least 8 DevOps Engineers.
• Cross-functional collaboration will be essential in this role.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Computer Science or Computer Engineering Degree required.
• A minimum of 10+years of operational experience.
• Experience with developing and executing across infrastructural challenges.
• 3+ years of security experience.
• 5+ years of operational experience of streaming infrastructure.
• 5+ years of large data set experience, and 'needle in haystack' discoveries.
• Experience managing Cloud based infrastructure such as AWS or Azure.

• AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, and other cloud technologies.
• Scripting technologies such as Python, Bash, etc. and the ability to coach development methodologies.
• Cloud Infrastructure deployment best practices.
• AWS CLI.
• Big data technologies such as Cassandra, Hadoop, Kafka, Data Lakes & Streams.
• Deep Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Security Best Practices and Penetration testing tools and methodologies.
• Docker.
• Jira, Github, Maven, Team City, Jenkins, SonarQube, Build Servers for multiple platforms.
• Nginx, Zabbix.
• Continuous Integration & Deployment.
• Relational and non-relational DBs (MSSQL, Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, etc).
• Good working knowledge of web services, RESTful interfaces, XML.
• Extensive experience with Linux and Tomcat servers.
• Experience working with NoSQL DB such as Cassandra and Dynamo DB.
• Akamai Live Streaming, CDN, and EdgeComputing platforms experience preferred.
