MANAGING EDITOR
(English as Second Language for the School Publishing Division)
SCHOOL PUBLISHING DIVISION
Pearson ERPI has been a part of teachers’ and learners’ lives for 50 years, offering print and digital educational resources for all subject areas, from preschool to university. We are a French-language publisher active primarily in Québec but also in French schools across Canada and among learners of English as a second language.
Reporting to the Director of Publishing for the School Division, and working in close collaboration with the ESL Product Owner, you will manage ESL publishing projects, ensuring that they meet the needs of the target market, fit with best teaching practices and are in line with ministry requirements. You will also ensure that your publishing projects comply with in-house quality standards, respect allocated budgets and are published in a timely manner.
Your main responsibilities will consist in establishing and tracking publishing schedules, coordinating and supervising the work a variety of contributors (writers, project editors, proof readers, etc.), preparing, monitoring and maintaining development budgets, as well as planning and managing the production of print and digital products. In addition, you will guide and supervise the work of key publishing stakeholders. You will integrate the principles of Pearson’s Product Life Cycle (PLC), Efficacy and Agility into the publication process. You will also apply the Scrum framework to those of your projects developed using the Agile methodology.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Management, Pedagogy or Teaching and have least 5 years’ of relevant product development experience, preferably in school ESL publishing. You are fluent in both spoken and written English and have a good working knowledge of French. Previous project management experience in a cross-functional environment is a definite asset as is an understanding of the principles of Agile development.
You are recognized for your strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a solid ability in project management, planning and organization. In addition, you are customer-focused, detail-oriented, autonomous and rigorous. You are an excellent communicator with the ability to impact and influence people. You are proficient with Microsoft suite and knowledgeable about new media.
