Position: Segment Producer – Live Programming – Your Morning
Status: Regular - Full Time
Location: 299 Queen St West - Toronto
Salary: (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required
Responsibilities:
• Looking for a segment producer with a variety of current affairs interests and experience including Canadian and international news, health, sports, business and technology
• Produce engaging, informative and entertaining news interviews and segments
• Chase and book the strongest guests
• Source the best video, images, and audio to support their segments
• Prepare thorough research support for the show hosts on a wide variety of subjects
• Write engaging and accurate scripts and segment intros
• Create relationships with Canada’s diverse communities to make sure the show reflects Canada’s broad experience and reality
Qualifications:
• One year proven experience as a segment producer
• Experience in daily news production
• Strong editorial sensibility
• Proven ability to chase and book guests
• Exceptional communication skills – both oral and written
• Excellent organizational skills
• Experience working in a live environment
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while maintaining focus and composure
• Experience writing excellent broadcast scripts
• Strong research skills
• Excellent sense of how to use video and audio to strengthen story-telling skills and news coverage
• Ability to work well in a team and be self-motivated. A positive attitude is a must
• Available to work early mornings and shift work
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
