The USA TODAY NETWORK is looking for a top-notch creative sales and marketing leader to join our team as Director, Client Solutions based in New York. This role is responsible for leading a team to develop best-in-class multi-platform advertiser solutions that meet key advertiser objectives by leveraging our award-winning content, products, innovative ad experiences, and branded content. This is an
integral role that interfaces with sales executives, directly with clients and agencies, and GET Creative, our in-house nationwide creative studio. The Director, Client Solutions will work to develop and refine custom idea-led advertising solutions that are distributed across platforms and mediums including print, digital, mobile, podcasts, events, social, and virtual reality.
The Director, Client Solutions is responsible for managing a team of 5+ people located in offices across the country specializing in:
• Idea-led selling practices and processes
• Custom solution creation for RFP responses
• Developing and delivering client presentations
Successful candidates will have a proven track-record of managing and mentoring
high-performing teams, developing and directly selling idea-led advertiser solutions, working with sales teams, a strong digital curiosity, relevant history supporting major brands, preferably in the categories (Retail, Auto, Finance, & Tech) and a deep knowledge of emerging digital technology, social media, innovative ad platforms, branded content, competitive sites and mobile applications.
In this role, you will
• Lead, mentor and inspire a team of ad sales marketing professionals
• Embody and foster idea-led selling practices and processes across the sales organization
• Be “Chief Storyteller” – responsible for all RFP responses, including the idea creation and presentation for all national ad sales clients
• Demonstrate deep knowledge of key advertising industries (Retail, Auto, Finance, & Tech), with a clear understanding of how media platforms (Digital, Mobile, Social, Print, On-The-Ground) work together to support one strategic concept
• Own process from brainstorm/ideation through program approvals, to overall pitch writing and presentation.
• Collaborate with all GET Creative and Client Solutions leadership and team members, Sales, Research, Editorial, Design, Ad Solutions, et al to develop new or customize existing opportunities based on meetings and/or RFPs.
• Lead creative ideation, brainstorming and strategy sessions with internal and external clients. Lead the definition and development of big ideas for creatively driven sales presentations and pitches. Unconventional strategic thinking that drives revenue is encouraged.
• Attend client/agency meetings with sales executives to help convey proposed solutions and general capabilities, as well as to ask questions and gather feedback.
Requirements:
• BA or BS from an accredited college or university (Marketing, Journalism,
Communications, Advertising, and/or English majors preferred)
• 7+ years directly related to digital and integrated media sales and marketing experience
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of the media industry, integrated marketing solutions, digital, mobile, and social media, as well as the entertainment landscape, emerging cultural trends, and the intersection of technology and media
• Ability to confidently deliver compelling presentations to a variety of internal and external audiences
• Exceptional verbal and written presentation skills
• Demonstrated expertise of developing cross-platform opportunities that drive revenue
• Must be team-oriented, collaborative and have the ability to drive an agenda forward while also balancing needs of multiple conflicting stakeholders
• Exhibits core behaviors e.g., interpersonal relationship skills, communication, strategic thinking, problem-solving, strong work ethic & full-scale organization (over-arching to tactical).
• Ability to effectively manage their time in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
• Agility and ability to flex work style and prioritize projects.
• Expertise in PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Knowledge of Photoshop a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of time.
