The Director of Program and Change Management plays a critical leadership role on the team, reporting directly to the SVP of Portfolio Strategy & Planning. This role takes the lead in managing stakeholder engagement, stakeholder action plans, change impacts, risks and issues associated with large-scale, transformative and highly-strategic programs that drive the company’s business growth plans and must win initiatives.
• Partner with senior leaders in reviewing, approving, prioritizing and scheduling initiatives to ensure alignment with fiscal year goals & objectives
• Proactively engage and manage stakeholder relationships with business users to ensure success of projects through effective change management
• Senior leader-level reporting on all Portfolio Strategy & Planning projects and maintaining visibility to key dates, decisions, milestones and issues.
• Influence across all levels (staff to Exec) to gain buy in and consensus on projects & change management practices
• Work with Senior Management team to identify “Strategic Projects” that require near-term additional support for Strategic Projects, and takes lead role in ensuring delivery
• Large scale support for program implementation and management experience, using a proven change management methodology
• Own holistic program plan across PS&P activity, looking for opportunities to combine efforts and/or shift direction to reflect business needs
• Ensure PS&P representation on relevant governance and management groups across Pearson
• Implement and manage relevant government and management groups sponsored by PS&P
• Provide strategic insight and provide framework and project plan for the planning and timing of all major PS&P initiatives, including risk/benefit analysis with business stakeholders
• Establish project scope, timelines, milestones and deadlines along with deliverable schedules, coordinating internal and external resources where applicable
• Partner with business and stakeholders to identify and resolve issues throughout the project lifecycle
Essential Skills include:
• Deep functional knowledgeable in both the theoretical and practical application of project management concepts
• Abreast of state of the art project management techniques, tools and technology
• Analytical and detail oriented so that project scope can be well defined, articulated and executed
• Ability to anticipate risks and issues, based on state of projects/programs, and assess and/or create successful mitigation plans
• Ability to identify and track key performance indicators to measure effectiveness of program/project and the team as a whole
• Demonstrated expertise in partnering with key stakeholders and leadership counterparts to develop and deploy change plans, to include change strategies, stakeholder management and communication plans
• Ability to manage communication activities to ensure that key stakeholders are informed of program activities and achievements and have a venue to provide two-way dialogue
• Experience working closely with corporate communication teams to develop, lead and execute communication plans
• Ability to collaborate effectively across a large, complex, global organization to drive successful collaboration and efficient/effective work practices
• Ability to use influencing and negotiating skills to arrive at win-win solutions
• Ability to lead meetings with project teams, steering and executive committees, and vendors
• Ability to coordinate across departments to secure project resources
• Demonstrated leadership, teambuilding, motivation and facilitation skills
• Exceptional organizational and planning skills
• Adaptable to the flexible needs of a global team environment operating around the clock
• Ability to engage/partner with multiple global constituents while driving time-sensitive communications solutions
• Ability to monitor team engagement; identify and respond to key challenges and areas of opportunity for strengthening teamwork
• Strong coaching and mentoring experience
Qualifications:
• BA required; MBA preferred
• 8-10 years experience with a minimum 5 years’ experience in managing large, complex programs or change transformations across multiple levels of an organization
• Demonstrated executive presence
• Proven record of leadership and success
• Experience in education industry a plus, but not required
• Demonstrated ability to drive results
• Ability to take ownership and independently drive progress
• Expertise in creating metrics to measure results
