The Design Community Manager at Autodesk is part program manager and part community advocate, with the primary goal of creating and sustaining design culture initiatives that foster a new level of respect and appreciation for Experience Design (XD) within the company.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, XD, the Design Community Manager will lead the definition, implementation, and ongoing support for a wide variety of interrelated programs and initiatives to connect and inspire a diverse group of designers around the world. The role will require a highly organized, results-oriented individual with extensive experience managing design production on a software team and/or within a creative services agency.

The XD practice team provides design leadership and excellence across all product lines at Autodesk. Key disciplines include experience design, visual design, research, content strategy, experience engineering, and program management. Together, we support Autodesk’s growing design community, customer-centricity, connected experiences across our products, and the high-quality of work product and employee talent.
How You’ll Spend Your Days
• Developing and leading programs that connect our internal creative community
• Owning and maintaining Design Home, the internal community website and resource center for people, tools, and other design-related information
• Leading and managing X Summit, our annual Experience Design event
• Designing and managing design-related meetings (monthly, quarterly, etc)
• Developing intimate social initiatives that bring teams together in personable ways
• Overseeing the monthly XD newsletter program
• Fostering recognition and appreciation programs
• Developing high-quality posters, swag, and other Autodesk Design branded items
• Curating and promoting Autodesk Design as an inspiring brand
• Managing the Autodesk Design social media strategy (Twitter, YouTube, Medium)
• Encouraging regular content creation from within Autodesk, and leading the development of new content to directly support specific branding goals
• Making Autodesk relevant in the public design community
• Sponsoring and/or participating in professional events and associations
• Developing a public speaker lecture series

What You’ll Need to Bring
• 3-5 years’ experience working with design teams in a software, agency, or studio environment
• Experience overseeing and managing complex design program schedules and budgets
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver results while juggling many projects and priorities
• Superior knowledge of project and task management tools
• Keen ability to grasp complexity quickly and to focus on key issues
• Deep appreciation of the creative process and fundamental design disciplines
• Relentless attention to detail
• Great writing skills
• Strong creative evaluation skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant major
• Background in creativity, and being a maker at heart, is a big plus
Bonus Points
• Experience in interaction design, new media design, visual design, or related field.
• Experience working with architecture and manufacturing products and services.
• Experience designing multichannel experiences.
• Experience with software development and agile methodology.
