Responsibilities
NBCUniversal (NBCU) is looking for a results-driven technology Director to lead the Product Management discipline for the Analytics Technology group, part of the Sales, Research and Analytics Technology (SRA) organization.
In this role, the Director will be focused on leading internal NBCU client engagement, user-centered design, and overall product development strategy. They will be the driving force across NBCU to leverage design thinking and innovative approaches to transform the company through technology, data, analytics and agile product development.
The Analytics Technology team is tasked with solving business problems to change the way work is executed by business and technology teams. Through leading and creating these solutions, the team is fostering new ideas and delivering business value in a rapid, effective and measurable manner.
• Build relationships, listen, develop empathy and setup ongoing operating mechanisms with business users and vertical technology leaders to understand their needs, prioritize demand and execute on strategic initiatives
• Define and communicate product vision, roadmap and overall product management strategy
• Recruit and manage a team of client-focused product managers to lead the next generation of solutions to enable insights and new capabilities across the company
• Partner with horizontal-service leads and platform teams to build new products and solutions that align with the strategic goals of the business
• Leverage data and analytics as a catalyst to transform the organization building a foundation for future endeavors and partnerships
• Evaluate future initiatives with how they align with Corporate, SRA and Analytics Technology strategy
• Provide product management to Management Science and Integration group by building tools to support but not limited to content efficacy, diagnostics and forecasting
• Extend product management and agile development principles as a common framework to other verticals within NBCUniversal organization such as News, Sports, Film, Parks and International
• Drive a standard approach for operational support after project completion by partnering with the CIOs of each product vertical
• Coach technology partners, embed the agile philosophy and advocate for business needs through new platforms and approaches to solution
Qualifications/Requirements
• Undergraduate degree in the field of computer science/engineering, or other related field
• At least ten (10) years of progressive experience in software development & building technology/data products experience, with five (5) years of experience in a business-facing analytical role and proven track record of related success
• Five (5) years of experience with advanced data technologies, data modeling, data solutions
• Five (5) years of experience as a lead product manager managing multiple products
• Experience managing vendor and partner relationships and engaging with new vendors and partners to continuously introduce new and relevant technologies
• Strong understanding of Agile principles and best practices including Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.
• Ability to quickly understand which data is used by which business processes and what the data means in the context of these specific processes, especially customer intelligence, brand and content engagement, and ad inventory and effectiveness.
• Strong working knowledge of media including broadcast TV, digital, and mobile with demonstrated business acumen and the ability to apply technology solutions to solve business problems
• Ability to assess disparate technologies, data sources and business processes and clearly communicate them to executives and execution team
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional business and technical teams.
• Experience managing multiple teams and managing people who are managing others
• Experience in delivering self-service analytics solutions that promote data discovery
• Ability to speak and present to high-level executives on status of products as well as get in the weeds with product owners and development team driving day-to-day execution
