Job Title: Product Marketing Manager - K-12 Social Studies
Location: Home-based or Work From Home; Can be based out of HMH office if preferred - office locations include Evanston, Itasca, Geneva, St. Charles, Boston, Round Rock, Orlando, and New York City.

The Product Planning, Development, and Marketing Group includes all the functional areas that work together to develop instructional materials that meet current pedagogical and market needs for PreK-12. Content is developed for a wide range of media formats, including interactive digital media as well as print. Colleagues within PDM have varying expertise including the following: subject-matter expertise across all academic subject areas, design, art and photo management, production management, quality assurance, content engineering, and permissions and licensing.
HMH is looking for a Product Marketing Manager who specializes in Social Studies. The Social Studies Marketing Manager will be an integral part of the K-12 Social Studies Core Product Marketing Group team and be responsible for marketing elementary, secondary, and supplemental social studies programs. In this exciting role with a collaborative team, you will build marketing campaigns, refine messaging and brand strategy, and support our sales team with new marketing tools, promotions, and events.
Key Responsibilities for Marketing Manager:
• Drive ongoing development of our growing social studies suite as a key member of development team
• Collaborate with sales and design to develop and execute marketing campaigns across direct and indirect channels (advertising, conventions, catalogs, website, direct marketing initiatives and sales materials and presentations)
• Train the sales force, implementation and Customer Service teams on the latest program information, messaging, and competitive intelligence
• Build relationships with key users for marketing and research efforts as the first year of implementation rolls out.
• Collaborate with sales team to develop specific product presentation tools for the field to ensure deep selling expertise (sales presentations, brochures, web presence, etc.)
• Support the sales and service organizations as they communicate with customers
• Provide sales forecasts, manage promotional inventory, and update existing marketing tools
• Represent social studies at national conferences and events, including speaker proposals, exhibit design and messaging, and customer events.
Education and Experience:
• BA/BS degree in Marketing, Business, or in the content field, such as elementary education, history, geography, political science, economics
• 3+ years of work experience in marketing; education experience is a plus
• Knowledge of educational market a plus
Skills:
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
• Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to develop relationships and collaborate across the organization
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently
• Self-starter
• Expertise with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Key Note
Additional Requirements:
• Periodic planned travel will be required (approximately 20-30%)
• Project management, including budgeting and scheduling
Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
