We are Europe's premier visual effects academy with 13 years experience in creating world-class, studio-ready talent.
At Escape Studios, we offer undergraduate, postgraduate and short courses in Visual Effects (VFX), Game Art, Animation and Motion Graphics.
We work with an impressive list of industry partners to design and deliver our courses, from MPC, Cinesite, Framestore and The Mill, through to Jellyfish, Milk and BlueBolt, to name just a few!
About the role
Implement, maintain and support the technology platform for students and staff in Escape Studios.
Key responsibilities:
• Provide 1st and 2nd line desktop support to all staff and students on campus.
• Bridge gap between IT team and teaching staff by providing application support to students with a focus on the technical areas of VFX applications such as rendering and scripting.
• Develop and support Escape’s Render Farm infrastructure, managing and prioritizing jobs to ensure resources are allocated to students in a fair and balanced way.
• Develop Escape’s custom pipeline through scripting and application customization.
• Desktop image building, software deployment, updates and patch rollouts.
• Primary technical point of contact for Recruitment and Marketing events, ensuring a professional and seamless experience for attendees.
• Student account provisioning and management
• Storage management
Qualifications
Requirements:
• 2+ years working in an IT support role
• Strong computer hardware knowledge
• Experience supporting Windows in an Active Directory environment
• Experience with server virtualisation (Vmware, Xen or Kvm)
• NAS and/or SAN storage systems
Desirable skills:
• Understanding of the "VFX pipeline"
• Exposure to any/all of: 3D, Compositing, Animation, Motion Graphics, Video Games
• Experience using/configuring any/all of: Adobe Photoshop/After Effects, Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Unreal Engine
• Linux or Unix experience (ideally Redhat/ CentOS based distros)
• Audio/Visual support
• Supporting heterogeneous Windows/Linux environment
• Experience using Puppet or other configuration management tools
• Render farm management
• Bash and/or Python scripting
