CBS Corporation is launching its Summer 2017 Veteran Internship Program for qualified college Veteran students who are enrolled full-time in an accredited university.
Through this initiative, we are committed to supporting the career development of our veterans by offering hands-on experience, career-building workshops, professional development courses and the opportunity to network with the best in our business. Although the following internships (listed below) are based in various departments, the program will be coordinated so participants take part in all of the aforementioned learning opportunities.
CBS Corporation is encouraging Veterans who are current full-time college students to apply. All of the following internships are paid and located in either New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Sacramento or Chicago. Each description provides more detail about the specific internship.
CBS TV Stations - Boston, MA
CBS TV Stations - Boston, MA
• News- Learn how a television news story develops, from event, to editorial decisions, to shooting, to writing, to editing, to air. Assist assignment editors, reporters, and producers in gathering news stories. This includes pre-interviewing, researching, pitching ideas and viewing/logging tapes. Days needed: weekdays, nights, weekends (varies). This is an educational program designed for college students who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism, broadcasting and public relations. It will provide an opportunity for you to learn the operation of the department assigned to while, at the same time allow you to perform some of the job functions that are critical to the learning process.
• Sports- Learn how sports are produced for news and the different responsibilities of the many people who contribute to that effort. Duties will include logging games as they are recorded off of TV and satellite, logging highlight feeds, answering phones, and occasionally assisting talent in the field. Days needed: Monday - Friday 4pm-11:35pm, Saturday/Sunday 12N-7pm, 4pm-11:35pm. This is an educational program designed for college students who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism, broadcasting and public relations. It will provide an opportunity for you to learn the operation of the department assigned to while, at the same time allow you to perform some of the job functions that are critical to the learning process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• Must be a Veteran or honorably discharged from the US Armed Forces.
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university through December 2017.
• Be able to work 20 to 30 hours per week.
