Director, Internet Systems Technology
Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) is a subsidiary of Sony Entertainment Inc., a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Sony Corporation. SPE's global operations encompass motion picture production, acquisition and distribution; television production, acquisition and distribution; television networks; digital content creation and distribution; operation of studio facilities; and development of new entertainment products, services and technologies. We are looking for a Director of Internet Systems Technology/Web Hosting Infrastructure to join our IT infrastructure team.
The Director of Internet Systems Technology (IST) is responsible for managing multi-disciplinary/cross-functional teams and setting the strategic direction of overall technical Web Hosting Infrastructure supporting Sony Pictures customer-facing web properties and digital asset transfer. The Lead of IST manages both tactical and strategic aspects of SPE customer-facing web infrastructure and processes related to SPE global web governance activities.
The Director IST will be a strong leader with expertise in designing key components of SPE’s next generation cloud web hosting Infrastructure with AWS/Azure. The Lead of IST guides DevOps/Automation and Infrastructure operations projects and collaborates closely with a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
• Assume ultimate responsibility for the availability and performance of Sonypictures.com and other SPE related B2C web properties.
• Ensure overall technical direction for core cloud hosting Infrastructure activities. Develop strategic hosting Infrastructure plans to ensure the hosting Infrastructure capabilities are responsive to the needs of the SPE’s growth and objectives.
• Define and build tools for cloud implementation, management, and IT automation.
• Deep knowledge of continuous integration, continuous deployment, and configuration management.
• Ensure that all systems and services are in compliance with Sony internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Assist the head of EIS GTS with setting technology direction for the organization.
• Provide guidance to the rest of the SPE technical organization on operational aspects of web site management, taking an active role in project and capacity planning.
• Lead a cross-functional team to define processes for effective execution of all comprehensive web strategy and continuous process improvement to support changing business needs.
• Manage employees; manages contractors and vendor relationships as needed on time and within budget.
• Work with client group, peers and management team to define the scope, technical and business requirements.
• Responsible for running website performance reports, assessing results, making improvement recommendations.
• Evaluate new and emerging technologies, direct continuing review of systems and methods, formulates new and revised strategies for all production environment.
• Examine techniques in use and make recommendations for improvement, cost reductions and enhanced efficiencies.
• Maintain a leading edge understanding of web site management, information architecture, user experience, metrics; web technologies best practices and possibilities.
Requirements:
B.S. degree in computer science or equivalent experience
Minimum 10 years’ experience in IT industry working with major systems and vendors.
8 or more years of diverse Production Support experience with significant depth in Web Hosing Infrastructure management.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Extensive Cloud experience (AWS, Azure or Google) especially in architecting, deploying, and managing production environment.
• Expert knowledge of Cloud computing architecture, networking topologies and clustering technology.
• Experience using AWS technologies such as EC2, RDS, Cloudwatch, S3, CloudFront, Rotue53 and ELS under production workloads.
• Automation and Configuration management skills are must – preferably Chef or equivalent.
• Manage partnerships as required to support key technologies and service delivery.
• Expert knowledge of Web Hosting Infrastructure – must have experience building out a reliable and scalable website architecture in AWS.
• Prior supervisory experience a must.
• Project Management experiences a plus.
• Outstanding communication (written and oral), organization, time management, interpersonal and management skills required.
• Excellent problem identification, analysis and solving skills required.
• Entertainment (Media, Film, or TV) or a related industry experience is preferred.
