We have multiple openings for experienced, innovative, strategic Senior Academic Designers (Project Status Worker)in our NYC office. Does this sound like you?
Reporting to the Director, Academic Design, the Senior Academic Designer (Project Status Worker) are content and curriculum experts. They assemble high-quality content based on specific product requirements for programs and understanding the solution design. They collaborate with the Academic Design Leads and Product Managers to help develop the solution design (both conceptualization and implementation). Depending on project needs, Senior Academic Designers are asked to take on specific project assignments, working with a small team of Academic Designers throughout the various stages of product development.
Critical Functions:
• Plan and develop content (including learning objectives, scope/sequence, tables of contents, lessons, videos, and teacher resources) for teacher and student materials–including print, digital, and media projects.
• Develop prototypes, project proposals, and project scope documentation, as needed
• Contribute to budget forecasts and tracking.
• Act as liaison between vendors, internal engineering teams, and Academic Design teams.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Design, Production and other cross-functional groups to establish workflows and maintain communication about project schedules/status.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of elementary (PreK-6) Reading/Language Arts and English Language Development pedagogical issues.
• Produce accurate, error-free, high-quality products that meet curriculum standards (including CCSS), project scope, and market requirements and that display appropriate content, reading level, grammar, and style.
• Stay up to date on emerging educational/curriculum trends, educational technology, and research within field and adjacent to field.
A successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Five plus years of editorial experience with digital know-how.
• Experience in educational publishing developing reading instructional teacher and/or student materials for Grades K-2.
• Ability to manage projects, develop editorial guidelines, oversee freelance writers, edit manuscript, and work in InCopy.
• Experience developing reading instructional materials and/or teaching reading in K-2 classrooms.
• Knowledge of primary grade (K-2) educational pedagogy and practices.
A successful candidate might have:
• Knowledge of Common Core and/or Texas ELA standards.
• Experience developing materials for English Language Learners.
