DESCRIPTION:
This is a full-time role within CBS Interactive’s Business Intelligence group supporting the Tech, Games, and Media properties including CNET, Gamespot, Last.fm, TVGuide, and many other websites. This position reports to a Director of BI and works closely with other analysts, product managers, engineers and leadership teams.
BI Analysts are exceptionally analytical, resourceful and independent. They provide insight and analysis that assists with the growth of the company’s new and existing products. The successful candidate will manage reporting projects, coordinate site development initiatives, and contribute proactive recommendations and information to senior management.
Key Functions:
Implement fundamental BI tools: SQL, Tableau, Omniture, and Excel.
Manage reporting requests from start to finish (gathering requirements, pulling data, compiling reporting, giving recommendations, and presenting findings).
Investigate site issues, explain traffic patterns, understand and articulate user behavior.
Clearly present findings and recommendations to decision makers at various levels throughout the organization.
Proactively work on initiatives that use data to drive the business forward.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Should have completed 2 years of college in a quantitative field; economics, statistics, computer science, information management or a related discipline with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Excellent analytical thinking, problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
SQL experience preferred.
Enthusiasm and experience manipulating and translating large data sets.
High degree of initiative and technical ability.
Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to gather requirements from non-technical users to create solutions and explanations.
Must successfully pass a background check
Preferred:
Experience working in the tech industry preferred; experience working in the Consumer Technology, Gaming or Digital Media industries a plus
