Oracle Arena & Oakland/Alameda County Coliseum are AEG Facilities-managed venues and Northern California’s premiere sports and entertainment venues home to the Oakland Athletics (MLB), Oakland Raiders (NFL) and Golden State Warriors (NBA). Additionally, we host the top entertainers, family shows and special events at our venues.
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for a variety of daily and monthly financial accounting duties including account reconciliations and analysis, preparation of journal entries and related monthly close documents, financial records maintenance and monthly financial reporting. The position requires solid knowledge of accounting principles and experience.
Major Responsibilities
• Oversee G/L, A/R, A/P, and payroll functions
• Prepare and administer budgets
• Develop, implement, and oversee procedures and controls for various business functions
• Manage and protect company cash and assets
• All other duties & responsibilities as assigned
• Reconcile and analyze GL accounts including bank accounts, accounts receivable, pre-paid, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, deferred revenue accounts and other accounts as required
• Ability to review contracts and manage proper recognition of related revenue
• Gather, compile, analyze and evaluate data from Department Heads for monthly financial statements, budget and forecasts
• Respond to customer, external and internal, inquiries on a timely basis
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses for management; Create and oversee audit schedules; Provide support as needed for both internal and external audits
• Management and oversight of event settlements
• Assist in managing team members as required
• Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures as well as 404 compliance
• Perform other accounting and general office duties as required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree in Finance, Accounting or Related Field
• 5 to 8 years of Financial Accounting Experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong knowledge of GAAP;
• Proficient in accounting software systems; JD Edwards experience a plus
• Ability to communicate to management as it relates to finance and operation activities
• Ability to accurately evaluate and input information using a moderately complex financial accounting system
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and meet all deadlines
• Must be proficient with computers and MS Office programs; particularly Excel
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work extended hours as needed to accommodate monthly, quarterly and year-end closings
