Responsibilities
Universal Brand Development drives expansion of the company’s intellectual properties, franchises, characters and stories through innovative products, kids and family content, and experiences globally. Along with franchise brand management, Universal Brand Development’s core businesses include Consumer Products, Games and Digital Platforms, and Live Entertainment based on the company's extensive portfolio of intellectual properties created by Universal Pictures, Illumination Entertainment, DreamWorks Animation, and NBCUniversal cable and television. Universal Brand Development is a business segment of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, and part of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation.
Reporting to the VP, Marketing, Brand Development the Director, Marketing, Brand Development will be a seasoned, creative and innovative individual who will be responsible for developing and executing global marketing campaigns, both Universal and partner driven, to support consumer products while creating awareness for key franchise, film and catalog properties. It is essential that this individual have experience creating and executing marketing plans, leading creative agencies and managing cross-functional teams. Excellent project management skills and relationship building skills are a must.
This role specifically develops and manages marketing programs for our live action portfolio and for our DreamWorks Animation portfolio, including film, TV and Classic properties.
Job Duties
Lead team to develop and activate against annual marketing plans
Oversee and guide partner marketing, creative and communication strategy
Proactively conceptualize and develop cross promotions with other Universal divisions on behalf of partners
Create effective sales and marketing materials to be used domestically and internationally for licensee and retail sell-in, trade shows, roadshows and events. Includes presentations, scripts, sizzle reels, sell sheets, eblasts, etc.
Present brand story at key global summits, sales and retail meetings
Strategize and manage execution of effective brand presence at key trade shows (i.e., Licensing Show, Toy Fair, Brand Licensing Expo, etc.)
Serve as a brand expert and provide innovative ideas and thoughtful point of view on retail themes and programs that will drive objectives
Collaborate across multiple divisions including theatrical brand marketing, franchise management, creative, category management, retail development and marketing, and product development
Manage and grow staff, including a manager and a coordinator
Plan and manage budget on assigned properties
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications:
8+ years of brand marketing with minimum 5 years experience in licensing and/or consumer products
Demonstrates strong strategic planning skills, but also has a willingness to dive into execution of programs
Experience developing and leading successful digital marketing campaigns
Excellent storyteller with top-notch script writing and presentation skills
Strong organization and time management; consistently follows through and meets deadlines
Experienced manager with demonstrated team leadership ability
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple properties and deadlines
Technical skills: MAC programs including proficiency with Keynote, Photoshop or Illustrator and Office essentials including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
