We are in search of a VP of Brand Marketingfor Rakuten, the parent company of Viki Inc. This role will be based in San Mateo, California. The ideal candidate for this position is an energetic professional who is able to multi-task effectively, offer quick and accurate advice and provide creative input to help advance our brands. Our VP of Brand Marketing will act as the creative liaison with our international and US marketing team, design department, corporate communications as well as executives from Rakuten and its subsidiaries to create an eye-catching single iconic brand. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
• Work with the executive team establish, monitor and review the global brand development strategy to ensure that marketing goals are aligned with key business objectives
• Drive brand awareness, particularly in the United States, by identifying creative and effective channels, properties, communities and technology to enhance Rakuten’s market position
• Establish and manage brand relationship with teams in Japan as well as local markets
• Manage marketing budgets related to global brand development efforts
• Work with teams from HQ and various subsidiaries to gather necessary information to ensure effective global brand development programs
• Establish timelines and oversee the timely development of all items related to global brand development
• Identify unique and competitive brand positioning for Rakuten and its wholly owned subsidiaries in the US market
• Analyze effectiveness to determine ROI, provide recommendations and prioritize resources
• Work directly with Rakuten teams as well as the Rakuten subsidiaries to prioritize our effort to support our global brand development activities
Requirements
• BS/MS degree in marketing or a related field
• 8+ years experience designing brand marketing strategy in a national and global capacity
• Minimum 5 years experience managing a team of direct reports as well as working with teams from various subsidiaries
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced multinational environment
• Experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and positively affect our brand perception
• Proven ability to develop brand and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
• Ability to think globally/strategically, applying data to develop effective strategies and driving results
• Comfortable working with numbers, metrics and spreadsheets as well as PowerPoint presentations
• Ecommerce, technology and consumer brand industry experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience in influencing change especially building brands through various growth stages
