The role - Payroll Specialist
The role is based in Peterborough reporting to the Payroll Manager.
A senior member of the Payroll Team providing technical support to other members of the team. Supporting the Payroll Manager in all areas.
Responsibilities
• Lead UK P11d administration
• To resolve technical payroll queries escalated by the Senior Payroll Administrator and Payroll Administrator.
• Identifying and escalating potential issues.
• Preparation of manual journals
• Reconciliation of Insystem Reporting
• Take the lead resolving issues arising on the payroll GL reconciliations, and being proactive on confirmation of expected clearing of manual adjustments.
• Update cash forecast for each payroll net pay, taxes, redundancies and recharges for the Treasury team
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
• Work on special projects as a leader or member of a team supporting both the payroll departmental needs and multi department requirements across the company.
• Identify opportunities and make recommendations in support of process improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness within the team.
• Support and mentor the team in line with the team dynamics and competencies.
• Ensure that SAP software is updated in line with company policy, controls, SOX, legislation and best practice.
• To lead and work with the Technology department to make changes to SAP Payroll software. Including responsibility for identifying requirements and performing complete user acceptance testing (including SAP Payroll Manager role) in the test environment.
• Build ad hoc, SAP software, Payroll reports.
Technical skill requirement
• CIPP Diploma or equivalent
• Excellent understanding of Payroll Accounting practices.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience of Payroll software preferably SAP
• A thorough understanding of Payroll software beyond the day to day processing of Payroll
• Excellent Excel skills
• Previous experience of Manual calculations including Tax, NI, and student loans
• Involvement of new and transferred payroll integration

• Ability to communicate at all levels across the business
• Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative
• Willingness to challenge existing practices and suggest improvements where necessary.
