Position Summary:
The Director of Network Traffic Operations works closely with the Vice President of Business Operations to oversee the effective and efficient management of all three divisions within the Traffic Operations department: Promo, Commercial and Network Traffic. The Director works with regional leaders to drive maximum use of break time with full capitalization of commercial time and optimal promo placement, ultimately leading to the construction and delivery of complete, accurate, and timely logs.
Responsibilities:
1. Guarantee daily timely completion and delivery of logs to Sterling Broadcast Operations for transmission.
2. Work with local Traffic managers to ensure media planning strategies are accurately implemented and guarantee commercial orders are accurately booked by teams.
3. Certify Traffic teams are shepherding daily maximization of break inventory.
4. Work closely with Content and Ad Sales teams to determine channel break structures that provide optimal use of break time in order to meet both revenue and channel rating objectives.
5. Guide department managers and coordinators to implement strategies to proactively cope with daily business needs and issues: clearly identify ongoing issues, their real root cause and design a plan to solve them
6. Foster strong relationship with Sterling Broadcast team to guarantee open and constructive communication, not limited to solving ongoing issues but also alternatives to anticipate potential issues and improve effectiveness of working partnership.
7. Work closely with Content members to understand
8. Work closely with Ad Sales Executive/Support teams in managing the development and execution of high scale sponsored campaigns.
9. Establish and follow necessary processes and controls for SOX compliance.
10. Build strong relationships with regional Content and Ad Sales teams to understand their needs and provide solutions that better serve their business and deliver competitive edge in their markets.
11. Partnering with IT to implement system enhancements that will create efficiencies and allow the business to become more competitive.
12. Provide ad hoc reporting for senior management review of the break usage.
13. Create analysis and benchmarking of the operations process in order to build operational enhancements and improve workflow.
14. Continuously develop and guide execution of new ideas to make daily operations easier
15. Work with Vice President to establish a working climate that encourages high productivity.
16. Guarantee the most efficient and effective use of traffic resources (human and financials).
17. Actively work with peers in Europe, Asia, and Corporate to share best practices on processes and metrics collection.
18. Develop department policies, procedures and guidelines that ensure an effective, efficient and productive workflow for all teams within and outside of functional scope.
19. Empower managers to oversee their processes independently, while still adhering to the department’s Standard Operating Procedures.
20. Continuously finding ways to develop the team by training, coaching, mentoring, and motivating them. Ensuring that the team is working in a positive environment that gives them the ability to freely express their thoughts and ideas on how to improve their function.
Requirements:
• Understanding of the television media industry to ensure all operating procedures are followed for effective results in department workflows.
• 5-6 years’ experience in a network operation setting.
• Leadership skills: capacity to influence, motivate and enable others to contribute to the overall success of the business.
• Analytical skills: capacity to identify issues and underlying roots, prioritize issues, develop hypothesis for both the issue and potential solution, quickly gather data and develop recommendations.
• Data analysis skills: capacity to manipulate cumbersome data, conduct “back of the envelop calculations” and identify trends within data.
• Experience in managing multi-regional operations structure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills: capacity to structure messages effectively and with great clarity to senior management and staff.
• Proactive and resourceful individual.
• Excellent interpersonal and client oriented skills: capacity to relate to multi-layer stakeholders.
• Detail and process oriented skills: capacity to multitask and maintain a good level of understanding of different layers.
• Familiarity with workflow concepts: lead times, input/output relations.
• Bi-lingual or tri-lingual (Spanish, English, Portuguese) is preferred.
